When using this copier today paper was sticking when duplexing in two locations:1) In the bottom drawer #2 (when separating the finsiher from the copier) and 2) in the area where the copies come out of the copier.
I understand from sticking (jamming), first jamming in the cassette could be the switch on that side, try to clean or spray it by air cane, and could be the cassette rollers needs to be changed or cleaned.
The second jam is in the exit unit, just before the paper comes out, also there is a switch, try to blow that area in air two. But could be jamming in the fuser unit, so you have to determine where its exactly jamming but cleaning doesnot hurt.

I think the plastic broke that held the spring, so you need to figure out where it broke and drill a new hole for the spring, and sounds like you need a new cartridge, GOOD LUCK!!!
there are user mode settings and also some have settings on the actual trays the little windw that shows the paper size on the tray open tray ther is a slot that a cut out plate with the paper sizes make sure the correct size is showing thru the window if not reach in and pull out the cut out and put back in with the correct size displaying thru the window 81/2 x 11 and R if your copying the long way hope this helps
It may be this simple:
1- as silly as it may seem, are you sure the size is correct, if it is a letter size paper and it says legal, it will jam. open the paper tray and make sure the guides are snug againgst the paper,
does it say letter (or legal) for the tray you are going to use, if they do not correspond then look behind the tray inside the machine, is there a paper jammed in the back?
Or not so easy
2-You are having a sensor problem, take a look at the duplex tray,
pull it out and look at the sensors ( black little levers that stick out) are there any pieces of paper, can you move them and they spring back into place?
