Question about Compaq Keyboard

Compaq Keyboard Problem

Dear Sir,

My Compaq USB keyboard is not recognised by my desktop PC on switch on, and the keyboard LED also does not glow. But if I take out the keyboard connector and plug it back to the socket in power on condition, it starts working, with the message 'new hardware detected...etc.' appearing on the screen. My OS is Windows XP.
Kindly let me know how to fix this problem.

Hello Ganguly

You likely need to enable legacy (older technology) USB devices in your desktop computers' BIOS.

How to enter the BIOS of your particular computer will depend upon its motherboard and BIOS.

HERE is a link to a site w/ a listing of BIOS manufacturers and how to enter their BIOS.

You can identify your motherboard and BIOS by running the free BELARC ADVISOR PC audit utility found HERE.

The BIOS is entered normally during POST (right after powering on or restarting the computer - while the screen background is still black).

It is during this period that you must strike the key or key combination required to enter the BIOS.

If you need assistance w/ this, please, run the BELARC ADVISOR PC audit utility and let us know what motherboard & BIOS is installed on your computer. Or, if yours is one made by a major manufacturer (Gateway, Dell, IBM, etc.), let us know the manufacturer, model, and serial number or service tag of the computer. W/ that information we'll likely be able to find out how to enter your computer's BIOS.

Please, let us know if this response was helpful for your or, of course, if you have more questions, etc on this topic.

Thank you
BJ

XP has built-in support for USB devices.
Try a different USB port on the same computer.
Try the keyboard in a different computer, to prove that the keyboard is OK.

Compaq sr1630nx cannot go into standby mode due to keyboard device driver

If you can't find an updated driver for the keyboard, it may be that you have a USB keyboard. Typically USB keyboards will not allow the PC to go into standby.

Keyboard error of pc p4 compaq

Check that it is indeed plugged into the purple PS2 port on your computer, if the keyboard is USB then try alternating ports. Some-times just by plugging it into another USB port it can work.
Also it maybe that the keyboard has died, try a friends keyboard on your computer to test it. Try do as much as possible before purchasing replacement parts.

Take care!

My hp keyboard is not working properly

First of all i assume you are using a usb connection keyboard. I would start with switching keyboards. Next I would change usb port it's connect to. If that does not work try a serial port keyboard.

Keyboard is not working, at all

Hello sir/ma'am hi, the best way to solve your problem is to swap a good known keyboard from another PC to your PC. see if it will work. just make sure you turn the PC off when you swap keyboards. If the keyboard of yours is bad, replace it with aftermarket keyboard, If I may, recommend Logitech. thats it.
