I agree with Pirat3. It also could be a swollen cap ready to blow out. Check the motherboard for brown marks and the top of the caps for bulging.

It is probable the solder points where the power cord comes into the xbox may have come partially unsolderd. This would cause an arc of electricity which would produce that burnt electrical smell. The xbox would have to be opened up and power supply removed and resoldered.

My ps4. Want trun back on after the power cut out because electric ran out. So now it want start back up or even trun on

make sure the plug itself is getting power first, then check to see the state of the power strip. also check the plugs for the DC converter for the machine and the back of the unit. if anything smells burnt, some piece of your console may have been burnt out by an electrical surge. also check any hardwired internet connector for similar problems.

My xbox 360 ac adapter, all of a sudden, is getting hot and causing my consol to shut down. It smells like burning hair when it does this. It is only 6 months old. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have a faulty adapter. Best bet is to just replace it. They can be found cheap on ebay and amazon. Just make sure you don't leave your Xbox on too long and dont let the adapter be covered and overheat.

My 360 overheated and i smelled a hot electrical smell, cuold i send it in for repairs or is there a way to solve the problem myself.

Most likely you will have to send it in. If you have one of those warranty's from the retailer you got it from, you can probably take it there.

110 volt usa xbox 360 to work in a 220volt country

Hi,

The first possibility is that it was simply a faulty transformer, however the more lilkey problem is the transformer was not of a sufficient power to run the Xbox 360, you need to make sure that you buy a transformer that can supply at least 300w of power as this is what the xbox 360 requires, some cheaper models may have difficulty with this.

Further information about step down convertors can be read here

Thanks,
Geoff
