You are probably having an issue with the discs rather then what you are trying to play them on.
The discs need to be finalized before they can be used on another player.

  1. Put the disc in the drive (the ones you have already recorded)
  2. Press SETUP on the remote
  3. Select - Disc Edit Press OK
  4. Select - Finalize Press OK
Wait until it is finished then try to play them on another player.

Recorded dvd's wont play on other dvd players

some dvd players (outdated)..will not play these new dvd (recorded or pre-recorded dvd)...if you are recording dvd and wish to play on another dvd player (dvd player must be at least 2009)...same thing happen with my toshiba recorder...my jvc player works its (2008), but my sony dvd (2004) did not play any of the recorded dvds (only the store brought).....suggestion buy a not expensive dvd player (you just need it to play all that other features will push the price range up)

hope this help

Dvds recorded on video to dvd recorder wont play elsewhere

Mosr DVD recorders have a "compatible" setting or require you to "finalise" the disc. Check that is being done.

It's also worth checking that the laptop will play other DVDs sometimes you need a codec.

I have made 3 DVD-r copies of one dvd, only to find that my main dvd player wont play them, yet my other dvd player and my dvd recorder will. Please let me know what to do. thank you, josh m

depending on the brand, it will not play a rewritten copy, only the 1st copy.!!!!!!!
For example I have a sony recorder it will copy anything even Copywright materials ONCE, but will not make a copy of a copy, although it acts as if it made the copy upon play back it skips certain copywright materials.
You may have to refer to your manual to see.

Once we have recorded a show off the tv onto DVD we are unable to play the dvd of the recorded show on different dvd players than the one in which we recorded it off

if you are using dvd+ - R dvd disks you will need to finalize the disks on your recorder once you are done with the recording before it can be played on other players

I have recorded all my vhs tapes to dvds and they have played before and now they wont play. i have checked 4 dvds and they wont read in my tv, or 2 of my computers. what could of happened?

It can be several things. What type of DVD's do you have and how old are your players. Most older DVD players won't play the DVD+R format. When you said they played before was that in the recorder you used to make them? If so then most likely you failed to fina'ize them in the DVD recorder you used to make them. If you don't do that, they will ONLY play in the DVD recorder you used to copy them. If you did finalize them, it may be that, as said before, cheap discs dont work in any machines and DVD+R wont work in older players.
