Screeching Noise From Fisher & Paykel GWL115 Washer While Filling

Washer works fine except during beginning fill mode (not rinse mode) when there is a loud screeching noise after the water comes on for the third time during theinitial wash fill cycle. Doesn't do it during the first and or second mini-fill and slow rotate but screeches during the main fill for about twenty or thirty seconds and then continues filling on its merry way. Washer works fine except for the screech during that particular water in part of beginning wash cycle. Any ideas? pump impeller? but that would then screech all the time if it was a pump impeller, no? pump bearing? same thing? I guess this could be considered PM work before something really breaks. Thanks for any help

I have the same problem.... just started making the screeching noise.

I have the exact same problem. Screeches for about 20 seconds -- it starts when the side pump comes on that disperses the water with softner. It stops when the pump has a full prime and the water is cascading fully on the clothes. I have the Lowe's 4 year warranty but hate to call since Lowe's really does not do good service...

I had the same problem for a while and now the washer cannot empty or spin. I am told that the impeller might be stuck and that lifting the machine a couple of inches in the front, I should see a little water wheel like thing (the impeller). If it can be freed up by hand then that may fix it, if it is already free to turn then the problem is elsewhere and requires a service person :|

I had this problem for a few months...finally looked online...tried the solution given by shannonhener and voila! problem solved! A tiny rock was obstructing the impeller...unbelievable! Thank you.

the buzzing noise is the pump trying to work, but it cannot due to a blockage. unplug the washer and you can lean the washer backwards and remove the pump to unblock. the fill error is probably unrelated, and is an inlet valve issue.

Fisher & Paykel Intuitive Eco switching itself off during cycle.

Could be a bad drain pump or controller or rotor position sensor. You will need a Tech to take a look. Unfortunately with these machines there can be many reasons for a failure. Call F/P to get a certified technician out there.

When washer is filling it makes a load screeching noise

Hi, welcome...
Your water pump is going bad most likely. This is easy to diagnose and also easy to repair. Under the control panel on top is a "tech sheet" that explains how to put the washer in "test mode". Set the machine in test mode and run the water pump independently and you will probably hear this same "schreeching" sound. The water pump runs at the begining of the wash cycle to recirculate the water and mix the detergent with the incoming fresh water. You also can "check" this by using the "PERMA PRESS" cycle. The perma-press does not use the recirculation feature, so the schreeching noise will be delayed to the first rinse cycle if the pump is bad.
The part number is 420325P and you can get them from http://www.fisherpaykelparts.net

Fisher and Paykel GW11 not staying hot

WHEN I CALLED FISHER AND PAYKEL PARTS CENTER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM . THIS IS THE REPY I RECEIVED. "THE HOT WATER FILLS IN FOR A SHORT TIME, THEN THE DIRVERTER RECIRCULATES FOR A FEW MORE MINUTES, THEN FILLS THE REMAINING WATER LEVEL YOU HAVE SELECTED WITH COLD WATER. THE REASON BEING: (GET THIS) FISHER PAYKEL SAYS THAT THE AMOUNT OF HOT WATER AT THE BEGINING OF THE
CYCLE IS SUFFICIENT TO DISOLVE THE DETERGENT. AFTER THE DEVERTER CYCLE (THE SIDE RINSE AS YOU CALLED IT) THE REMAINING WILL BE COLD WATER FILL".
HE ALSO STATED MANY PEOPLE CALL HIM ON THIS AND HE SAID IN THE MANUAL IT IS EXPLAINED THAT THIS IS THE WAY THE MACHINE WORKS. SO MUCH FOR ECOSMART

When filling with the side fill pump makes loud screeching noise

Hi Tom. if the noise is a loud SCREECH that almost sounds like a wounded bird, you need to replace the water pump. The part is easy to replace with no tools and you can get one from Fisher Paykel Parts:

Noise

Eileen, If the screeching is only happening on the fill and not during agitation or spin, I think we are safe to rule out the belt, pulley and bearing. Remove the fill hoses from the back of the washer and check to see if you have sand or gunk caught in the screens of the valve itself. If they are clear sounds like the water passing through the valve is making the noise. Another thing to check is the water pressure in the house. It should be around 55 psi., 75 psi max. I have seen it as high as 120psi with a bad regulator. This will cause noise and all kinds of problems. The part number for the fill valve is 131389300, according to the model posted....Catriver...post back.
