The baby blue ones with the lines Blue,Gray, Gold ,and gold are the 6.8 ohm resistors the other resistors with the lines blue, orange, brown and gold are 630 ohm , Yes if those resistors are open even one of them the set will not converge. A digital ohm meter is more accurate, but you have to remove one side of the resistor to check them and if theyre open they wont read anything. If you leave them in circuit even a open resistor can measure good due to the resistance in the circuit. Removing 1 leg out of circuit then checking will spot an open resistor quickly.

After cleaning the lenses on my 60P8342a tv and turning the color buttons in the back my tv is shutting off and on and I have a flashing power button, no pic or sound at times

How long was it back befor you turned on this potentiometers ?

Dust and more can be come into the potentiometers of a crt (cathode ray tube) projetion tv in the years that its old it is not strange.
Ist an older kind of model of projection tv.

Treat them with contact spray , also not only red the r g b potentiometers but all the potentiometers that are parts of the convergention panel. and adjust them on a screen with the base saturation of color to zero so you adjust a good gray tray with a balans without a red brown or green or blue surplus so that you have white gray black in balance if you have adjusted , tur back on the basic color saturation to your prefered level.

Chances are pretty good that the weather will be fine.
To see some brown spots on the board and replace any carbon composite resistors for carbon or metal film resistors in the print because of high tolerance over this kind of resistance.

No picture & the red power light just blinks

If it shuts off and then the power light starts blinking red or never turns on but the power light blinks red continuously that is usually indicative of the convergence ICs (STK 392-110). You never want to replace the ICs without also replacing the resistors that are associated with them. There are usually 6 resistors, one for each of the colors and there corresponding direction, IE Red horizontal, red vertical, blue horizontal, ect. In the case of this model tv all of the resistors are 2.2 Ohm and 2watts. You will find them right where the STK 392-110 ICs are. Right in front of them. They are blue and have this color code on them: Red, red, gold, gold. These are represented by stripes on the resistors. You can get the parts from www.bdent.com They carry the ICs and the resistors. If you do not feel comfortable completing this repair I could do it for you if you send me the board. My email address is: missionelectronics@sbcglobal.net The cost is 375.00 and that includes all parts.
Good Luck.

Zenith R60v26 has burnt resistor at RK5 on convergence board

Hello, I have the exact same issue with my R49W36, I replaced the convergence chips but there are also two 1 ohm resistors with the same color pattern as yours that are bad. I have looked all over and cannot find a 1 ohm resistor anywhere. Where did you find it?

Resistor identification

Hi fccjben;

The color code is as follows: blk = 0; brn =1; red = 2; orange = 3; yellow = 4; Green = 5: blue = 6; violet=7; Grey = 8; white = 9

Unfortunately, if it is wirewound, they usually printed the resistor value on the body of the resistor. For sure it shouldn't be glowing. Sorry I can't be more help, but without a schematid, can't do much else

Good luck Loringh

Samsung HCN4226 Convergence.

Did you remove one side of the resistors from circuit to check them? If you leave them in circuit a blown resistor will test good as it will read the resistance from the surrounding resistors. Usually its the 3.9 ohm resistors identified bu the bands orange, white ,gold and red. and also the 150 ohm identified by the bands brown, green, brown and gold

Bad Resistor

Jonze,
Guess I should have looked to see that you had a second post. I justa answered one and here's some of the answers to my questions..
Brown - green - grey - gold would be a 1500m resistor and I would HIGHLY doubt they used something that intolerent in the convergence circuit... It's more likely to be a 1.5 ohm resistor which is brown - green - gold - gold and the grey you're looking at my just be discolored from heat stress...
Take a look at my previous post and tell me what you find after you make some comparisons.

Phillips 60PP920217F Convergence Problems

replace ic chips pt# stk392-120 or stk392- 150 and there are 12 resistors located near ic clips pt# 6r8 ( color code blue - gray - gold - gold ) board location no#s 3149 thu 3160 if you look close you may find two resistors discolored as i found on my convergence circut board , also use heat sink compound on new ic chips , take your time to mark all wire connectors going to board from tv , also use .022 dia gage rosin -core solder and a 15- 25 watt soldering iron you may have to adjust the red - blue convergence afterwards my tv set is 3 yrs old also ( thanks holbert )
