Try this: with the battery installed and battery door open, take a pencil, fine tip screwdriver, or anything long and skinny and push the tip of it into the little nub circled in the picture here. There's a spring inside that little nub... keep the spring depressed and try to turn on the camera. If it works, then either a small piece of plastic broke off the battery door or the nub got broken/pushed in too far for the battery door to trigger it. Try using a dab of hot glue to keep the nub pushed into the down position.

Can you use an SDHC card in the canon powershot sd300 digital elph?

Although it looks exactly the same as a standard SD card, the format the SDHC card uses is very different. Unfortunately your camera was designed before the SDHC format came out. Sorry, but a SDHC card will not work with your camera.

You'll need to use standard SD cards (usually those 2GB or less). But if you really want to use a 4GB card, do a Google search for 4GB SD "non HC", with the non HC in quotes. Believe Transcend makes one.

Camera shuts off after E18 error code

You have most likely dropped the camera or banged it against something while the lens was out. This situation causes the brass pinion gear to shear teeth off the plastic ring gear on the Inner Lens Housing. It may also cause the guide pins to jump their track. If this is the case the repair bill usually exceeds the value of the camera and you are probably better off selling it for parts on eBay and getting a new higher resolution camera.

Canon g7 dead wont turn on My Canon G7 wont turn on. I have tried new battery without succes. Please help nlthomsen@hotmail.com

That's a loose screw issue inside the G7 and the G9 that is common. The best place I know to get help for that one would be camerasandparts.com They just specialize in the powershots and they are awesome if you need help with one of these. Best of luck, they have your exact G7 no power problem right there on their site. I hope that helps.

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:

My Canon PowerShot SD300 will not turn on even with a fresh battery.

Your camera sounds like it will need to be serviced by Canon.

You also may have the option of upgrading through their loyalty program for deep discounts.

Give the tech support a call and find out. If you are out of your one year warranty period, you will qualify!

Use as mass storage device

Connecting a camera to computer via a USB to download is one thing- Connecting a camera to Computer to feed back the the card is another. The chances are the firmware on the camera will not accept anything that is not in EXIF format. Try it -simply connect camera in the normal way. This will if you have the normal A C D drives will come up us removable storage -'E' with the appropriate icon in 'My computer' Now pick a file[s] and using the normal Edit/ Select/ Copy[Or right click] routine then go to the removable media['E?' right click paste See what you get- you wont break anything
