Firmware problem i had my zin v plus on the charger and when i decided to take it off, it dsplayed a recovery mode display and everytime i reset of turn it on, it say that it has a firmware problem

    say it has a firmware problem when i cut it on and off it want play my music. What do i do? i read instructions but it didn't work HELP!!!!!!!!

    My Zen V plus says that i need to reload my firmware but i dont know how to..how do you reload firmware? i have my usb cord and my starting cd if that helps....

Ok well firmware i figured out is kind of like the format..i dont know if there is another way to do it but this worked for me...go to the creative homepage..idk what it is..google it..anyways look on the dowloads..make sure ur zen is listed..should be..than click download..dial up..which i have..might take an hour or so..it wokrs..itll take off all ur music though which stinks but its worth it i think...hope this helps..please rate it if it workss..

I have a creative zen m vision which is not working if I try to reload firmware I get a message harddidk problem - how do I proceed


1 HD damage could be done when you drop the Zen and you hear noises inside, some times the display just shows the Creative logo and no more.
2 the display just show the Creative logo, no noises inside, you can tray to put in Recovery mode as mentioned in the other solution and then erase firmware then reload firmware, this firmware can be downloaded form creative page,http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=213&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP&region=1&P
However
Before you go to all that trouble though try these steps:

1. Connect the device to the wall charger.
2. Hold the power switch to ON.
3. Put a paper clip into the reset hole.
4. Continue holding the power switch on until the Creative logo appears.
5. Select Format All from the Recovery Mode menu. (Note: THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA FROM YOUR DEVICE! - but it's better than buying a new device)
6. When the reformatting is done, select Reboot from the Recovery Mode menu.

If you have tried the reset, then it could be one of the following:
1. faulty charger - Need to replace it
2. Faulty/failing battery - Need to replace it
3. Faulty contacts / cable - Need to replace the cable or service the unit for faulty contacts.

If you are able to switch on the unit, try the following:
Please follow the steps below to recover and upgrade your player with the latest firmware:
  1. Make sure that your computer is online and connecting to the Internet.
  2. Launch the Firmware Manager at Start->Programs->Philips Firmware Manager on your PC.
  3. Connect your GoGear to the computer while pressing & holding the 070119082257_17362.gif(>||) key until the Firmware Manager recognize the GoGear and a dialogue boxpop up in recover mode.** If you failed going to recovery mode, “pleaseconnect the device in recovery mode” is displayed please repeat step 1to step 3.
  4. Click Start to confirm and start recovering the unit to its factory setting.
    IMPORTANT: All music & content of your GoGear Player will be erased once the factory setting is restored.
  5. Follow all screen instructions and click Finish at the end to complete the recovery.
  6. The Firmware manager will close automatically once the success message is displayed.
  7. You can now remove your player and start using it again.
You could also try to manually upgrade the firmware and see if that helps...

you might want to verify that your new player has the latest firmware available, as this might address the unresponsive-button issue you're having. Firmware updates are surprisingly easy - you just download the firmware file from Creative's website, plug in your player, and double-click the downloaded file. It's that easy.

Language in zen


To reset the language displayed on a ZEN player to English, change the language back to English or run Cleanup from the player.
For detailed instructions on how to access the Recovery Mode of a MP3 player, please see Recovery Mode: What to Do and How to Access.
If the player is a flash based player, such as a ZEN Nano, ZEN Nano Plus or MuVo, the language can be reset by manually changing the language or updating the firmware. To manually change the language:
  1. Press the scroll wheel to access the main menu.
  2. Scroll to the Settings option (the icon looks like a gear).
  3. Scroll to the Language option (the icon looks like a pearson speaking).

Recovery Mode


The same problem happened to my sister when she reformatted. All you have to do is go on the internet fine the latest firwire software and download it on to your Zen V Plus.
