spanndau - my camera is a couple of years old so not under guarantee, any idea how much that's likely to cost? I have exactly the same problem in that battery is charged but nothing happens

Canon IXUS 960 asked for a new setting date and time, 8 hours later i cannot restart the cam.

I had the same problem 4 days ago. Last tuesday, the camera is perfectly in good shape. However, last Wednesday morning, it did not start, there's no power. I don't know what I had done because I did not dropped it nor it did not get wet.

This camera is basically the same as the SD950 sold in the USA. My SD950 suddenly stopped turning on. See following link for cause of problem

SOURCE: Camera will not turn on

Hi

If the camera is less than a year old it's still under warranty and you should call Canon and have them fix it for free.

For others that aren't under warranty, it's hard to say what might be wrong without testing the camera myself.

No power can be due to static shock shorting out the fuse, or there may have been damage to the switch on the inside of the battery door. These are the most common problems...

Open the door and check the switch beside the memory card slot.. is it damaged? Try pressing it down and pressing the power button, maybe the door isn't contacting it properly.

If its not the door switch, you may need to replace the fuse on the PCB (if you can solder really well) or the PCB itself.

We are an affordable digital camera repair business, I don't have a current price for this board but I can see if I can get it if you like, and we can also perform the repair for you. Even if you don't use us just let me know if I can help with anything else.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com

Hello there,

Have you tried doing a power cycle? By removing the battery for 30 minutes to an hour. This will do a reset of the system.

Let me know how that goes.

Good luck!

Is the battery powerfull enough? Meaning has enough DC current in it to powerup? There are 2 "ON" buttons one at which the lens comes out, the second to view pictures.

Check on the display to see if you haven't accidentally set it to macro or manual focus mode. Macro mode is a small flower shaped icon and manual focus is shown as an MF symbol on the display.

sorry , i must only say ..... yes

and this is actually depending to the chance of buyers which to get the good or bad device .

I have a similar problem with my camera which is about 2 or 3 years old. Seems to be a circuit board issue. Costs about €90 to €100.

I have a Canon IXUS 960 IS. The screen shows no image when taking a photo yet shows menu information and works fine for playback. Is this a fault or have I accidently made a wrong setting somewhere. Any...

Try pressing "DISP." which is the small button on the bottom left under the thumb-wheel. That turns on or off the LCD in shooting mode. In Playback mode, it shows shooting information etc.
