try pressing the MENU and DEVICE(or INPUT) button on the front panel after the tv has shut off. hold them together for about 8 seconds or so. it will start to blink there will be one set of blinks then it will pause then you will get another set. this is called an error code. depending on what error code it gives you we can go to the next step.

TRY THIS WITH MODEL:

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB (NOT SHOWN IN THE SCHEMATIC). 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB.

My tv has full picture for about two minutes thengoes blank the green light blinks then comes bak on and repeats the process

You have to reset your tv.
If there is no reset button, then while the tv is on unplug the cord from the wall socket, this shouid reset the tv.Wait about 5 minutes before you turn it back on.
If this doesn't work then, your tv is about to go,unless you have a valid warranty.
Hope this helps.

rforester,

This model Mitsubishi has some capacitor problems with the DM board and the power supply. See my tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r7065906-mitsubishi_turn_flashing_power_timer which explains the problem and where to get the parts to repair your unit.

Television will not respond to panel power switch or remote

This unfortunately has become a widespread problem with this series of Mits televisions. You can read a forem about it here: Flashing green light of death But there is hope, Mitsubishi has instituted a rebuilding program for the chassis inside of your television. Any authorized Mitsubishi repair center should know about how to get you set repaired. It's not cheap (expect $500-$600) and it takes a few weeks, but it will save your TV.
