Yes this was so much help for me. Because I formatted my MP3 Player and lost everything and when I tried to sync songs to my device it said full but now that I have downloaded firmware it is now working again and I have added songs and I'm listening and dancing away. Thanks Kevin_p0 :}

The firmware is available from the RCA support website, but not the smv video converter. For that, try going to www.soft29.com. they have a freeware version of the converter that should work for you. Good luck!

I lost the disk to my RCA Opal and I am wondering if I can still download music from i tunes. Is their free downloads that would help me with this problem?

You can only put non-DRM iTunes music on your Opal (.m4a I think is the extension unprotected music, so if your music has this extension you sould be ok)

There is no important disk that comes with the RCA Opal. You can run the easyRip installer and during the install it will prompt you whether you want to "import" media from iTunes to easyRip (all this process really does is map to it, not copy it) and any media that gets imported by easyRip can be transferred to your player using easyRip's Player Loader module.

You can download easyRip from the RCA site here:

I need to buy the installation cd as well as the usb cable for my Opal 8gig.(Modle # M4008A)..PLEASE HELP.

I would call Audiovox/RCA and find out the exact part number for the USB cable as well as their price. You can then order it from them directly or from a trusted retailer that offers a better price. The software can be download for free at www.rcaopal.com.

Rca opal m4008a

The solution is to reset your firmware.
You can get this directly from the RCA website at

http://download.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads/OPAL_4GB_8GB_FWUtility_v1.2.8.0.exe

Or you can try to fix your problem using someone else's files for your player.
You need to set your computer to view hidden files for this--the firmware on your player uses hidden files like this. I don't have those files handy--you may try searching online forums for onther m4008a users.

Good Luck!

Opal m4008a boot error. firmware not detected after downloading v.1.2.8

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Rca opal M4008A mp3 player

Hi, you can try to upgrade the player's firmware, you can download it from the RCA Website (http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads.aspx?product=187), the firmware it's the second app listed.
If your computer doesn't recognize the player, you'll have to turn it off and keep "PLAY" pressed for 10 seconds while connecting it to the USB port, then update the firmware.

FF - This is a common problem with Audiobooks - there is no way around it on this player. Drag files to Audiobooks folder to get them out of the "music" folder
