Hi. I just purchased a brand new Motorola Razr V3 and the keypad isn't backlit. I've owned a V3 before and that was an important feature for me so this is really annoying. Is it a phone fault or is it a phone setting I need to change?

yes they are backlit but they light is very dim, If i slide mine open and wait for the screen to turn off then I can only slightly see the backlight going off, might just be a problem with mine to though :P
My Stepdad had a similar problem - a connector inside the phone came dislodged in shipping, we just had to open it up and re-connect it: check out the fix-it manual: http://www.lovehopefaith.com/V3.files/V3-repair.pdf
There are tiny LEDs embedded into the pcb with the keys on it. Fixing it yourself is probably not possible as obtaining the tiny LEDs will be difficult and installing them nearly impossible.
Cell phones are normally profitable for the service you pay and not for the purchase of the phone itself. It's more than likely if you take it back to the place you purchased it from, they'll exchange the phone and you'll receive a brand new or refurbished one.
