Question about Daewoo DP42SM 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

1 Answer

DAEWOO DP42SM You seem to be an expert on this model. I have one that displays everything perfectly. However, the SVGA input has become a bit fuzzy (looks like interference). It gets better/worse depending on how long the unit is running. I know it isn't a refresh rate/resolution issue as I've tried other values and PCs. Interestingly enough, the screen overlays still appear perfect as does the component inputs. Any ideas? thanks, Justin

I have an aspire one laptop and a video convertor.

Are you connecting the svga out of the laptop to hdmi of tv via a converter? This set should have an svga input on it. try connecting this directly to svga on computer. Computers and converters and hdmi inputs on tvs are always a challenge. Newer laptops have hdmi outputs on them and are seem to work better.

Daewoo DP42SM How Do I check what type of Display panel I have, I have to order a power supply but i need to know if it is a NEC, LG or OEC? Please Help Cjoego

Often looking through the ventilation holes in the back of the plastic housing of the TV you can see screen type but it may take a bit of searching. Most of the time you wont need to remove the plastic housing to see this. I know that a 42" Soniq plasma TV has an LG panel inside by looking through the ventilation holes at the LH rear corner of the plastic housing.
Sometimes you may be able to read a part number or model number by this method of viewing.

Hello bcarrington2,

If you are using one of your digital inputs and this is happening, I would suspect the video signal processor, the scan drivers (This is called many things but I prefer this name), I have seen these cause this problem. I would suggest if you do not have electronics experience, that you should take the TV to a qualified repair shop to have it taken care of.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Daewoo DP42SM coloring missing blue tint on dvd playback only

I don't know are you familiar with electronic,if you are you can fix it by yourself. The problem is in video process board, the one in metal cage. What you need to do is to remove the board from the set, remove the cage, then to replace all SMD capacitors!!!And do not put SMD as replacement put the normal capacitors same values they can be fited. You should aslo replace capacitors at the PSU and check 170V,160V and 70V and adjust them after the replacement.PSU is easy part but the video board is tricky one but it can be done
