The function of a scanner is get the picture. To convert the picture to document file you need a OCR software.
Some scanner are sold with the software that have this feature.
If none, you have to install it.
I use an old version Omnipage, it is perfect, but it is too expensive.
you can visit its webpage here http://www.nuance.com/omnipage/
For simple document, you can use the free one. Choose from this two webpage:

My canoscan 100 lide 100 does not scan to pdf, what do i do?

Here is one thing you can do.
Install a Word to PDF software like Word2PDF.
Scan and get the image into MS Word.
Go to print dialogue and select Word2PDF as the printer.
When you click Print button, the document will be saved as a PDF.

Hope this will be helpful.
Thanks for using FixYa!

I own canoscan Lide-25. I want to scan forms and fill in the blanks of the form from my computer then print for my use. How to do this? Am I to buy any splecial software other than OCR already provided.

I wouldn't use OCR, too difficult. I would save your scanned document as a jpeg and edit in Photoshop. From Photoshop thay can be printed or saved as a pdf file.

Hello I have recently purchased a second-hand CanoScan LiDE 25 scanner and it was accompanied by OmniPage SE Software. The reason for this purchase was to scan research papers for a friend. My experience...

Don't use the OmniPage software for scanning. OmniPage is an OCR (optical character recognition) program and is trying to convert the scan into a document compatible with a text editor (such as Microsoft Word). Use a graphics editing program, and use the option to 'Import' or 'Acquire' an image. Make sure that the LiDE 25 is specified as the scanner, and you should be linked to the scanner interface. Now when the scan is complete, it will be transferred to the graphics editor as an image, not a document.

Question about copying direct from scan to a Word document

Check if your Canon software creates a PDF image. A scanned image is a RASTER image, a series of dots, that 'appear' like text or drawing. You cannot use Ctrl-C or Ctrl-v. If the software creates a PDF file, you can cut & paste. Usr any good OCR (Optical Character recognition) software ad convert the raster image to editable text. Then you can cut & paste.

Canon CanoScan LIDE 25

Use the PDF function of the CanoScan Toolbox. On the options screen for a pdf, click the drop down box next to “Save as Type:”. Select “PDF (Multiple Pages)”. This option causes CanoScan to stop after each page is scanned and ask if there is a next page or if you are finished.

Scanning

You'll need a scanner with an automatic document feeder (ADF).

Here's a Microsoft article on scanning documents, including scanning multiple documents info one file.

I hope this helps.
