The TV will work manaully but will not respond to the TV remote or the Satilite remote. I have changed batteries in both remotes just to make sure, no luck, below is the info you asked for. Is there any special tools or experience needed to do this repair or is it just as simple as pull one part out and plug another one in, any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

It is most likely that the InfraRed receiver in the TV is no longer working, it is a common problem. Not sure of the part number or board it is on. You best bet is to open up the tv to try to find the part number of the board the receiver sits on. Then we could find a source for the part for you.

We have 2 Sylvania TV's. The remotes work on one TV but the other TV no longer recognizes the remotes. It gradually seemed to lose reception of the signal from the remote. Any ideas?

The tv has a infared remote eye located at the front panel. It is possible that the remote eye sensor has gone bad. You could try cleaning the remote eye lens. There might be debris that got inside the remote eye housing and is blocking the sensor. You could also try installing fresh batteries in the remote.

Have to manually change channels and turn on tv

Try using a universal remote control for your television, If no remotes work for your set, then the infared remote sensor may be faulty and you will have to solder in a new unit.

Need to replace infared eye on 36AF41 Toshiba TV

Yes, the back needs to be removed and the main board slides out to gain access to the IR sensor. Usually, the sensor itself is fine, the connections can get broken. Try resoldering the 3 pins for the sensor first. That alone may resolve the problem.

Remote doesn't work

here's a tip to test all remotes

point it at your digital camera/webcam
although the human eye cannot see infared, your camera lense can
watch the monitor to check if its flashing.

also - if you have moved the set, perhaps something inside - such as a wire loom - has fallen in front of the infa red reciever? or it may just need the window cleaning

Eagle 57 had the answer, your TV's are blind. The remote control sensing circuit in the TV is faulty. No remote will control it anymore.

Sony Trinitron 30" no remote seems to work

If you want to test the voltage you can do so at connector CN002 on the main board. You should have 5 volts DC at pin 4 and at pin 5 marked SIRCS (sony infared remote control system)should be 5 volts as well but, will drop to about 2.5 volts when any button is pressed on the remote. If it doesn't change then you should change the HR board wich houses the IR rec. and associated components.
