"DVD6500 Q: The screen is blank!
To reset the video output on your DVD, follow these instruction. Connect to standard composite connection (yellow video input on TV and yellow video output on DVD). Remove any DVD's from the unit. Turn the unit off, wait 10 seconds and then turn it on again. Using the remote, press SETUP, then the DOWN ARROW button 3 times. Press OK. Sounds like you have accidentally gone into the scanning mode. Press and hold the subtitles button for 5 seconds to get out of this.

Most laptops have a "toggle":
* output video only to internal LCD screen,
* output video only to external HDMI port,
* output video to both internal & external.

Set the "toggle" to the best value.

The home theater system wont read my disc:(

Well from what I have found in trying to get this problem figured out is that it is a common problem with Curtis Home Theatre Systems; not just your model 6041. Here is a POSSIBLE solution:

Q: The screen is blank!
To reset the video output on your DVD, follow these instruction. Connect to standard composite connection (yellow video input on TV and yellow video output on DVD). Remove any DVD's from the unit. Turn the unit off, wait 10 seconds and then turn it on again. Using the remote, press SETUP, then RIGHT ARROW button 4 times. Press Enter. Then DOWN ARROW button 3 times. Press Enter.
That is for your 6041. For what I have discovered elsewhere it may or may Not cure the problem. Give it a try and let me know one way or the other.

Oh, here is a link to the Curtis website Support area: http://www.curtisint.com/support/support.asp?brand=CURTIS .

Blank Screen

First, confirm that it is the screen itself. Connect the video output to a known working monitor and then power on your Thinkpad. if the known working monitor behaves the same way you can rule out the laptop's monitor as the source of the problem. This may be the BGA, Ball Grid Assembly, leadless soldering problem related to video chips on the motherboard, but first test the monitors.

Turned progressive scan on, can i turn it off without being able

Try these methods for resetting the scan on your dvd."To reset the VIDEO OUTPUT, turn Off the player, turn back On, open the disc tray and press and hold the Stop button on the player for 10 seconds to reset the scan mode." The Reset procedure doesn't seem to work on all versions but you can sometimes get a usable B&W picture allowing you to get to the menu and change the settings by connecting the composite video input of your display to the Red Pr/Cr or Green Y component output jacks on the rear of the cabinet.
You can also go into the Menu and set it blind with the following key presses on the Remote:
1. With the unit Stopped, press Setup.
2. Press Enter.
3. Press the Down Arrow 3 times.
4. Press the Right Arrow Once.
5. Press Enter. Hope this helps you with your problem
