CHANGE USER PASSWORD
When the MFP Local Authentication function is enabled, users can change their authentication password that has been entered in the authentication screen from this menu.

Change the password.
1) Press [OLD PASSWORD] to enter the current password. 2) Press [NEW PASSWORD] to enter the new password.
3) Press [RETYPE NEW PASSWORD] to enter the new password again. 4) Press [OK] to save the new password.
You will be returned to the USER menu screen.

John - the easiest way is to download the needed software and install it. If your notebook is not connected get access to another PC, download the software (or copy it from that PCs optical drive) and put it on a USB thumb drive and plug it into the notebook to install. If you don't have a thumb drive you can get one almost anywhere now, supermarkets, chain drug stores, etc.
Turn the power on and immediately press 1 or 2 repeatedly.Continue until the following message appears:Press the # button to perform disk maintenance (35+ minutes). Otherwise,press the green start button to continue.
Press # to begin the disk refresh process.This process may take as more than 30 minutes, but frequently only takes 10-15minutes. A message will appear on the screen indicating the refresh is in progress.
If problem continues:
Try dial **411
Select 4 MFP settings
Select 1 Restore Factory Defaults

Have you gone through the printer alignment procedure? This is especially necessary for scanning and copying. Also, make sure you're getting the document placed correctly on the scanner glass, and that the glass is free of dirt and oil. The impurities on the glass will cause the light to defract and make a mess of images.
