Everything was fine until visitors came and then I have been unable to get surround sound or any sound with the tv. I get sound via the tuner AM/FM but not the cable TV. As I said everything was working so it isn't the hook up. It's ME !!!!! Between the TV remote, the tuner remote and the cable remote there has to be some easy way . Can anyone help ??? Darniez

Ok...sorry it took me so long to get back to you...Check the back of you tv and look for RCA jacks for audio and video out...There should be a yellow one for video..a white one for audio left(L) and a red one for audio righ(R)...you may not need the yellow one...now look for any inputs on the rear panel of the surround sound system...They can be marked (AUX)...they will work..once all of these are located...you will need an RCA patch cable long enough to reach from the tv to the surround sound receiver...once done...turn on the tv and the surround sound. With the remote from the surround sound remote...switch between the input sources..maybe (AUX) until you hear your tv sound come through...then you adjust the sound as needed...Assuming the DVD is built in to the surround sound system...your DVD sound will come back when you play DVD's...All connections and cables are color coded so you should have no problem connecting everything....Good luck....let me know how it goes,,,,I hope this was helpful....PEACE.....
First, check all the connections to the receiver.. Make sure everything is plugged in where it should be.. Also make sure, that when you are on TV/CABLE that the surround sound is selected and that "headphones" is not.. Also check any other modes that may have been changed, (IE digital input, 5.1 channel, etc...)
Usually, unless the TV show is being broadcast itself in surround sound, the surround decoder in the receiver will default to front only sound on TV shows. When a TV show says that it is in surround sound, the receiver will decode it. I think the Law and Order series in broadcast in surround. Hope this helps, Best, Mark
If your TV has audio out and your surround sound has an audio in you need to get a lead to connect them together, most of them have - then you just select the Aux on the DVD/surround player (or whatever the input is called on the back) and everything comes through your speakers. If you only have headphone out jack on the TV it will mean you won't have your TV speakers working. I hope this is not really obvious to you and it was the first thing you tried!
I had the same problem on 3/21/09...I found it was the PS3 settings. I had to go into the visual settings (not sound) and change the linear sound to optic digital...but I also had to purchase a digital optical cable...plug everything into your tv instead of the receiver and then hook up the digital optical cable from your tv to the receiver. A it will work and b it is a better sound quality than that of the HDMI cable.
Help with hooking PS3 to a Denon Receiver. It worked before, but I had to move everything to a different location and when I hooked it back up the PS3 has sound but no picture. I have it hooked directly to the receiver with and HDMI cable (the receiver is hooked up to our cable box which is directly hooked to the tv via HDMI cable).
