Question about Tappan TEF242 Electric Kitchen Range

Oven fuse blows - Nothing works

The 30 amp fuse for stove keeps blowing
Nothing works.
There's no display, no lights, the ranges don't work and neither does the oven
As soon as it's plugged in it blows.
I looked in the back and I cannot see anything obvious (ie where the wires might have shorted out)

    Thanks, good idea.

Unfortunately I have not had a chance to try it yet, but it sounds like it will definately help.

Sometimes you really need another opinion.

Try lifting the stove top assy and checking wires under main top, leading to the elements them selves??? if tis tripping and not allowing to reset its gotta be an obvious short. isit hard wired directly to stove or into a 220 cord and plug???id look again, perhaps remove entire back panel and have someone trip on the breaker you might see where it flashes as it trips off

A pop & breaker tripped.retripped the breaker and neither the broiler nor the bake oven element in kenmore stove won't work

Sounds like you have a short in the wiring some place. A short will cause the breaker to blow. There are fuses in most electric stoves that blow as well usually back of the clock area.

We have a 40amp hot wired stove but now we just bought a frigidaire fef366dce with a 50amp. Will the new stove work well if hot wired to the 40amp

Hi,
The new stove may work but you may also blow the breaker/ fuse which ever you have... make sure to leave the 40 amp fuses or breaker in the box as the wiring will not be heavy enough to support a larger amp. fuse or breaker... that will start a fire!
You may find that you just cannot run all of the burners and the oven or broiler at the same time.

The control panel lights do not work nor does the oven. all the burners work fine this is a convection oven with a smooth top Gallery series

Check your main breaker in the fuse panel, it may be partially tripped. Turn the 40 amp breaker off and back on. if the display does not return to the stove, the I would suggest you contact a local servicer.

1984 stove, fuses located on the top of stove/ 30amp keeps blowin

It sounds like the element has a short in it. unplug the range, and take the element out and inspect if for burn marks. check the wires going to the element to make sure they have not shorted.

Ran Self Cleaning - Display went blank & Oven Door stayed locked

You need thermostat limiter #8300802. It is on the back of the stove behind some sheet metal towards the top. With shipping this part is about $39.00. But don't waste your money. If you replace it, it will burn out again! I am currently trying to find a way for either a class action lawsuit or a total recall. Kitchenaid/Whirpool is well aware of this problem. A $1500.00 stove and it won't self clean.

Circuit breaker popping when stove top/ oven is on

thats how fires start when fuses keep blowing. Just use one at a time. Its probably over loading the fuse you may need a bigger fuse block. Call a local handy man if you havent already
