Question about Pinnacle Dazzle Video Creator Platinum (230100037) Video Capture

2 Answers

I purchased your product and have been transferring my VHS tapes to DVDs. I have finished 15 of them, when I ran into this problem. When I am rendering my movie and I get to the point where it says writing final file it stops and I get the following message: Compiling failed, try again. I have tried numerous times and different days and the same thing happens. I have a 6 month old Dell with Basic Windows Vista software. My Dazzle software is Studio version 10.8. I have downloaded version 11. My serial numbers are as follows:Studio 19 JBSKA-AEBAA-BHPPN-AAAUR-OZRHB and instant dvd recorder JADIO-AABAA-BAAAA-AAAUR-TLDWK

When I unistall the software, when I reinstall the software will have to go in and download the upgrade to studio 11 like I originally had to do? I'm not sure how to do this as a friend did it for me and he is now out of the country for 10 weeks. He is the one who talked me into transferring my tapes to dvd, which has been a pain in the ***.

  • sonnyclayton Apr 04, 2008

I have tried to delete my serial number from the post and have been unsuccessful. I highlighted the numbers and hit both delete and backspace and neither one worked. Any suggestions?

  • sonnyclayton Apr 05, 2008

I tried your suggestions. I uninstalled the software;restarted the computer; reinstalled the software and it didn't work. I deleted previous movies I had captured to open up more space on my C drive. I tried capturing a different video.NONE OF THESE SOLUTIONS WORKED!! I STILL HAVE COMPILING FAILED, TRY AGAIN WHEN I TRY TO RENDER MY CAPTURED VIDEO!!

  • sonnyclayton Apr 05, 2008

First I don't have Studio 8 or 9. I have Studio 10.8. When I go to the setup I get the following: Capture Source Capture Format Project Preference Video & Audio Preference Make Disc Make File Make Tape

When I go to edit I get Undo Change Time Scale
    and Select All

I do not get anything about auxilary files or file folder ???????????

Hi,

First thing you can do is try uninsatlling the software and then install it back. This will definrtly help you fix the problem. If this doesn't help you then try out this software. It's similar to Nero Recode.

You find it on this page. It's freeware and there is very good tutorials.

http://www.dvdshrink.info/index.php?reset=yes

If you manage this software - you can go back to Nero Recode.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate the solution.

To uninstall the software go to control panel>Add or Remove programs>then uninstall the program by selecting the name of the software i.e."Pinnacle Dazzle video creator" then clcik on remove or uninstall.it will be uninstalled. Then to install it put in the software cd and then install it again. To upgrade it then go to options TAB and check if there is any Upgrade option. If it is there then click on upgrade.

Did you try using another software which i gave.I have given you the links you can download it from that

  • Priya darshan Apr 05, 2008

Ok. i think this solution will solve your problem.please read this carefully.

This may happen if the project name is long (greater than 20
characters) and the Auxiliary files path is in the default location.
Pinnacle has duplicated a problem that occurs when the maximum length
the path is more than 108 characters including the project name. We are
investigating for a future release of Studio. Currently please try
    these steps:

    1) Use a project name shorter than 20 characters. If you still have problems, try using a name less than 10 characters.

    2) Change the location of the Auxiliary File folder from the default
location of "C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Pinnacle Studio", to
the root of a drive, e.g., "C:\". Here is the procedure:

    - In Studio 8 or 9 go to the Setup menu and choose Edit.

    - You will see a section called ‘Folder for auxiliary files.’

    - Click the file folder icon in that section

    - Select a location that would result Auxiliary Files\. in a short path
name. For example if you are capturing to your C drive, just select
that drive and hit OK. The resulting path will be C:\

    3) Delete Auxiliary Files in Studio (see drop down menu - File/Delete Auxiliary Files)

    4) If you have added menus to the project, remove the menus. Create the
disc content without the menus and see if the project will render. Once
the project has successfully completed rendering, add the menus back in.

If your problem gets solved please don't forget to accept the solution as fixya..

Uninstall the software, restart computer, and reinstall software back, this can solve the problem.

Check also that you did not run out of space on your C drive (or whatever drive you use to save). If the problem happens always with the same movie is the source file that is bad .

One more thing : delete your serial from the post, we do not need it, it is not a bug in the software, everybody seeing this post can steal your software licence now.

Is the VHS tape you are trying to record a commercial VHS tape (movie)? If so, it may have copy protection on it. The recorder is probably programmed to prevent you from making and using DVDs of commercial copy-protected VHS tapes.

Can I transfer video tapes onto CD's

A lot depends on what type of video tape you use and where do you want to play the DVDs (CDs are for audio recording only). If tape is compact VHS then you can buy a simple DVD Recorder VHS VCR combo player and transfer across easily provided you have the compact VHS cassette module.
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/reservoir/tv-dvd-players/lg-v271-vcr-dvd-player-combo-recorder-6-head-hi-fi-stereo/1073556241

For other type of video camera tapes you will have to try other methods like connect camera with tape to a DVD recorder and directly burn the DVDs. You can buy attachments and software for PC but I have found these very cumbersome to work with.

Maplin Electronics have a motorised VHS-C Cassette adaptor that will enable you to view any camcorder tape on a standard VHS. If that is any help priced around £15.00.

How do i go about transfering vhs-c video from an

You have several options. But important one to understand is the limitations of a PIII computer like Armada e500. You may not have enough grunt to convert stuff, even after buying the necessary video capture devices which work on USB.

Also I am assuming you either have the jvc camcorder still available or atleast have a VHS-C to VHS adapter to play the tapes on a standard VHS tape player.

Unless you are having a lot tapes and need editing while converting, your better bet might be to go to one of the shops that convert these tapes on to DVD or a suitable flash drive which might work out cheaper and quicker.

The last time I did this thing (quality of my VHS-C tapes was bad) I bought a Samsung combined VHS Video / DVD recorder and used the dubbing feature to burn DVDs. Cost me about $150 a year ago. I was able to do some editing on the way as I was connected to the TV screen as well. Saved me the hassles of dealling with the PC type video capture devices and software.

i hate being the bearer of bad news, but your unit is a dvd player only, not a dvd recorder. it cannot burn dvds, and so you cannot use it alone to transfer your home movies to dvd.

VHS code compatibility

The video standard in Japan is PAL while it is NTSC here in the USA. You should be able to locate a VCR than can play both. If you'd rather not purchase a new VCR, some locations that create DVDs from VHS tapes can usually also read PAL tapes.

Transferring a VHS tape to DVD.

First - be sure you have a DVD RECorder unit and just not a playback unit- It must say recorder on the unit and your manual --
You need DVD-R dvds only to put into this unit.
The instructions are involved and include 5 steps--
1. Format the empty disc.-done automatically when you put any empty disc into the unit.press yes
2. Put on VHS mode on -remote-light VHS lights up on unit
3. Press Dubbing on the remote and press yes
4. When finished press stop on the remote- wait
5. Finalize the DVD- this must be done p. 27 and 28 in manual or see info in my other solutions.
All this process is in the manual on page.76
Have fun DD
