I have a new conquest side-by-side refrigerator. The indicator light is on showing that I need to change the filter to the water dispenser. However, the manual doesn't 1) tell me where this filter is located and 2) what filter I need.

Re: filter for the water dispenser
LOOK AT THE TOE PLATE BELOW THE DOORS. THERE SHOULD BE A ROUND DIAL UNDER THE FREEZER DOOR.
TURN IT COUNTER CLOCKWISE ONE QUARTER TURN AND PULL IT OUT. THE DIAL THAT LOOKS LIKE PART OF THE TOE PLATE WILL SLIDE OFF THE END OF THE FILTER. YOU CAN FIND A NEW FILTER AT MOST HOME IMPROVEMENT CENTERS OR YOUR LOCAL WHIRLPOOL DEALER.

If the indicator is a light or series of lights, the light will change
from green to yellow. This tells you this it is almost time to change
your filter. It is recommended that you replace the filter when the
status light changes to red, or when water flow to your water dispenser
or ice maker noticeably decreases. Hence, it's advised to check your water flow (pressure) is perfect. If your water flow is normal the indicator display will automatically be gone and also you will get water also. Please also check any tints orkinks in water hose, if it's correct it. Thanks, Helpful?
Page 20 shows how to unlock the dispenser and reset the filter light and I have pasted them here.
There are products at Lowes or Home Depot near the appliance for odor removal, I like to put a bowl of cotton balls on a couple of shelves, soak the cotton in vanilla once a day. The odors will be gone in a couple of days.
DISPENSER LOCK (SELECT MODELS) This feature prevents ice or water from being dispensed. To lock dispenser: ➢ Press and hold DISPENSER LOCK button for 3 seconds. A green indicator light above button confirms dispenser is locked. To unlock dispenser: ➢ Hold DISPENSER LOCK button for 3 seconds. Green indicator light above button will go out.
The filter status indicator light serves as a reminder to replace the water filter. A green light indicates that the filter is in good condition. A red light indicates the filter should be changed. Once light turns red, it will remain red until function is reset. To reset indicator: ➢ Press and hold both DISPENSER LOCK and WATER buttons simultaneously for 4 seconds. The green filter status indicator light will flash 3 times when the function has successfully reset.
yes it is. as long as there is still water coming out from the dispenser.
the red light only indicates that it is about time to replace the filter. could be 6 months old. this is controlled by time, so check your water pressure at the dispenser, if it is still strong, then you could still use it .
depending on your condition, some filters would be clogged already even if the light is still green and there is no more water coming out of your dispenser.
