I have been using the memory card since christmas of last year. It has been reading fine on the computer and working fine in the camera until 2 days ago. When I put the memery card into the camera it won't read the photos i'm taking at all. I can take pictures with the internal memory. When I plug the external memory into the desktop then the memory works. It just won't work in the camera. This camera is only 3 months old.

Hi, Thanks for your help. I went to the store and bought another memory stick and its works great now. I really didn't think it was the memory stick, but oh well everything is fine now. I know now where to go if I have a problem. Thanks again, Par1959

What is the capacity of your memory stick?

Is it your camera that is having difficulty reading from the memory stick, or is it your computer?

Was it working previously and then stopped working, or has it never worked correctly?

I would try using the camera to reformat the memory stick.

Take it to your computer first to copy any data you want to keep. Then insert it into the Cybershot and reformat. This should rewrite the headers that the camera expects to find on the card.

If you're using Windows Vista then it's probably the problem with Vista
not being friendly to the firmware on the external reader. In many cases, 2GB memory card cannot be seen if it is used with the external
reader using Vista. on Windows XP, the card reader + the 2GB
    memory card works fine

Where did you buy your card? I have read many articles of counterfit
cards. A high percentage of cards sold on Ebay may be counterfit. They
will have a brand name or sometimes an odd name you don't recognize.

The problem is with the camera.it is time to send it to repair or exchange it if it is under warranty. One of my customer had a same problem and the only solution was to replace the camera. You can check HERE

Before sending it to repair you can try using another memory card on your camera to see if that works. If it works then the problem is with the card.

Recently purchased Sony Cybershot DSCW180. Took 3

Yes, you need to have memory stick because camera has limited internal memory that can store few pictures only.
Put new memory card, format it through camera Menu and copy internal memory pictures to memory stick, take our memory card from camera and delete internal memory pictures either one by one or format internal memory through camera Menu.
Thanks.

Sony cybershot dsc-w130 keeps showing "reinsert the memory stick" when i try to take a pcture or adjust telephoto when i do it does not make any difference

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC T70 and it keeps saying "Reinsert memory stick" whenever I turn on the camera or slide down the camera lid. Also, whenever I try to view the pictures on my laptop it shows "Please reinsert the memory stick" something along those lines. As I have been researching for the solution, I would have to format the memory card. However, I wouldn't want to lose the pictures as I just took many as from the holiday last week. The only problem is the memory card, I tried using another memory card and it works fine with the camera. There is nothing wrong with the camera.\r\nCan someone please help me how to solve the memory stick problem? It would be great. Ty.
