I have the same problem, however, It only appeared when I had to change the graphics card.

The system appears to start to boot up but stops and provides a list of options to either run safe mode, using command prompt, using network???? Last good setup and run normally.

When I try either safe mode or the command prompt the screen flashed blue for a split second and returns to black and fills up with a list of drivers with Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\drivers\mup.sys being the last one listed, after around 40seconds with nothing happening the system reboots itself and the cycle starts again.

I have put the driver for the new card into the system when starting up, this has not changed any of the above.

I have no internet access at home, have lost the XP cd which came with the system and I am totally out of my depth.

I would appreciate any help that is offered.

Your PC is stuck in safe mode startup

I would suggest using the Windows Disk, if you have one, go through normal windows installation. At the point of installation just after pressing F8 it will detect windows exists and offer you a repair option press R to repair

Hello

If your OS, its now starting good, it depends, on a great amount of issues, from viruses, bad boot sector, bad drivers, bad boot files, or corrupted ones a lot indeed. but for help you quick, do these steps
1) go into safe mode, windows 7, xp,
2) verifify in control panel and device manager, if is missing any device, and then restart,
2) do in safe mode, an restore checkpoint **
3) if any of those not work, reinstall windows.
hope these help

Compaq presario v4000 needs to system restore

Reboot the computer > when you see the Compaq name appear, tap the F8 key until you see a black screen with boot choices appear. The first ones on the list are "Safe Mode", what you want is "Safe Mode with Networking", this way just a limited amount of drivers loads including your networking and internet. If you do get booted up, try to get to www.filehippo.com and download "MalwareBytes Malware Remover", install this and do a quick scan and remove anything it finds. You may also try to boot off the windows installation disc and choose the repair option for windows.

Compaq presario is stuck in a start up loop, this is a new problem, can't get the computer to go past the windows start up screen

Hello,
Press F8 after you restart( before the Windows screen). And choose Last good configuration. If it does not work Repeat in Safe Mode and try to restore to a previous Restore point.
If nothing works you might have to reinstall Th OS.

Hope it helps.

I have compaq pc presario c300 i cant open windows meaning when i start up my laptop the xp window is just come n go faster (popUp)

When you boot up press F8 function key and Windows will give a list of boot options, select Last Known Good Configuration and hopefully Windows will start up correctly. If not boot up again, press F8 and select Safe Mode and Windows should boot up in standard VGA display mode.
If this doesn't work you need the Compac restore CD disk that came with your laptop. Boot up with this CD to restore your laptop, you most likely will lose data.

My compaq presario 5000 freezes up

hello,

Maybe it has come to got error in the system files or you were infected with a potent virus, try to boot your system in safe mode by pressing "F8" at first boot. select with network connection. scan your system online like panda online scan( go to panda website).

on safe mode You can also restore your system at the previous date where in the system is functional.

else if this not work then you have to clean install the system by reformatting and reinstallation of the OS. ( you can search the document in installing windows in google.) but first back up your important files before proceeding.

make a note if what ever!

Restore to previous settings

Hi Tangeeh, you can use windows system restore. Click the start button, slide to all programs & slide up to Accessories, than slide down to System tools & click System Restore.
Pick a date backwards when you know your PC ran better. Tangeeh what I think you realy need to do is clean your notebook. This will increase the notebooks overall peformance. Click the link I have posted to install a free program called RegCure.
http://www.pctuneuptips.com/recommends/clean/?gclid=CL2RiIrTmpICFSFMGgodODIPzg

Or you can use this other program free for 30 days.

If you want your PC to run as it did when you first bought is you can run your system restore CD from Compaq but you will loose all your personal data.

Good Luck & Kind Regards.
If I can be of more service, just ask.
