- No tv-dvd connection. This is a portable dvd with tv included.

Apr 17, 2008

- Power supply OK. All functions work except picture itself. Thanks anyway.

Apr 17, 2008

- No HDM1 button or output. What is HDM1 anyway? Thanks.

Apr 17, 2008

- My cable input reads "DC in 9V". That's the only place the cable fits. I don't know what a ribbon cable is. Maybe beyond my expertise. ?

Apr 17, 2008

- The manual troubleshooting page that came with my dvd doesn't seem to address my problem. Don't know why I just can't call or write RCA, but no add. or tel.no. in manual. Cannot solve my problem by list on TV because I hv no picture.

Apr 17, 2008

- Actually, my unit is an RCA DRC615N but was told on-line to use the 247N as 615N colutions not available.

Apr 17, 2008

- No function switch. I hv a yellow input "video" and a white input "audio" and an s-video input (all on the side of the dvd) plus volume and phones input.

Apr 17, 2008

- The on-line manual is same as my manual that came with the unit.

Apr 17, 2008

- These are output plugs to use a TV. I hv the cables. Also, do u mean a line select switch inside the unit where I wd hv to unscrew the bottom?

Apr 17, 2008

- Going off-line. Will check again later. Thanks.

Check the ribbon cable connector could be broke, or it has a defect.

Let me know.. Post back again..

Thanks

What king of connection are you using between the tv and dvd player? Is it component, composite, dvi, hdmi?
Comments:

Apr 17, 2008

- I meant "kind" not "king"...

Apr 17, 2008

- Right! Sorry, did not notice that.

Could be the back light, you would see a VERY faint image if that was the case.

Does the unit have a TV out? If so, did you try it to see if there is picture?

I suppose there is sound then? If the TV-out works and you've ruled out the backlight then either the unit is not processing an image or the LCD is not getting power. The best this you could do in this case is to open the unit up and look for obvious problems like loose cables, or burnt or loose components.

Apr 17, 2008

- The DC 9V is for the AC adapter so that you can run the DVD player without batteries, or recharge it's battery. It doesn't have a yellow TV out?

Apr 17, 2008

- Can you provide the full model number then as DRC247N is a stand-alone DVD player and not an all-in-one. Thanks.

Apr 17, 2008

- Is it possibly the DRC628? That is RCA's current portable DVD player model.

Apr 17, 2008

-
Does your unit have a function switch on it? It should be set to DVD, not usb or av in.

Apr 17, 2008

- If you press the setup button on the remote do you see the menu on the screen?

Apr 17, 2008

- According to RCA to have the machine replaced or repaired under warranty you are to ship it to:

Thomson Inc.,
Product Exchange Center,
11721 B Alameda Avenue,
Socorro, Texas 79927

Only if you have proof of purchase date and you have owned the unit for less than a year. You must pay labour for repairs between 91 days and 1 year after purchase.

Apr 17, 2008

- Are you certain those are inputs and not outputs?

If they are in fact inputs, do you have another device you can use to test this unit with? Plug in a playstation, or a stand-alone DVD player into it to see if you get a picture. You would plug in using either S-Video or the Yellow RCA connector. Even a VCR or cable/sattelite box would work this would turn the DVD player into a TV and you confirm if your screen is working or not.

Apr 17, 2008

- I found the manual for the DRC612N, does your 615 have a line select switch? It should be on in do use the internal display, on out it would expect to be plugged into a TV.

Apr 17, 2008

- Actually that was wrong, you want out to watch a DVD, in to watch the output from another device.

Apr 17, 2008

- No on the 612 it's between the dc 9v jack and the video jack.

Apr 17, 2008

- If you could use the cables and plug the DVD into a TV to try to see if it can output to TV? Thanks.

Hi,

Check if all the connections are tightly fixed in the holes.
If you are using the HDMI output, you must press the HDMI button on your remote control.

Goodluck..

It may be a power supply problem. If you are not familiar with electronic repairs better take it to an authorized service shop.
