How do you do wire up for a new light in the loft and where do you get connection from

If you have an existing light where you want a new fixture then you can just use those wires. If you do not have power to the loft then you need to connect onto another circuit (wall outlet or a junction box). You need to make sure that the existing circuit that you connect onto can handle another load on it. If you cannot connect in then you need to do a home run to your breaker box. If you do that you need to see if you have an open port for a new circuit breaker. As far as running the conduit and wire that is more than fine to do yourself. As far as the final connections I would not save my money there. Have an electrician come in and do it for you.

Spotlight wiring diagram

Easier to use a junction box 5A as you need the spur cable from the lighting ring to go into this junction box then have the lights and switch both terminate inside the junction box.

I have installed a new light and 1 gang 1 way switch to an existing lighting circuit but the light is remainign on permanently. is there a problem with the wiring in the junction box?

You have more than likely wired around the wires going to the switch. Above is a simple diagram of how to wire in a light circuit. If this doesn't solve the problem, has a good sight to look on for more wiring diagrams that can help you

*Neutral is the white wires usually in the ceiling junction box. There may be several wired together.

I hope this helps you. Have a good day and be careful with that electricity!

How do i replace a pull cord with light switch

Ok so, L (line) N (Neutral) and E (Earth ground), and no idea what this rose is. I suppose you mean Junction Box when you say JB. You can use the original junction box for the wall switch connector, but the Black and white wires coming from the switch must be disconnected from power to be used, if power is already present in your light's original junction box (which is usually the case when using a pull switch light). Then you connect the white and black wires to your wall switch and use them to break the circuit at the light itself by wiring it between the light and the power lead.

How to do you wire 2 separate exhaust fans to a double single pole switch with a 20amp breaker problem

Your statement is a bit off the wall

Do you have two single pole switches or two double pole switches

You would normally provide a Live, Neutral and Earth to each fan via a switched , double pole, fused spur box .(You run a cable from the spur to a junction box) , you then run a LNE to each of the fans (using plastic trunking or conduit if the cables cannot be sunk into a wall).

Inside the junction box you remove the Live supply cable from the connector which should now be carrying three cables leaving the two cables running to the fans.

Put the Live wire into the spare connector inside the junction box

Get a twin and earth cable with the two wires marked up as Lives (Brown or Red in the UK, or whatever your wiring colour code dictates in your country) take those to a single pole switch which is convenient to you and wire them in

Back at the junction box put one of those wire into the connector where the two Supply wires for the fans are and tighten them up

Put the second wire from the On/Off switch to the Spare connector in the junction box which is holding the Live Supply

You then have a fused supply with a switch to break the circuit

If you do not need a switch then ignore the second part and just rely on using the switched fused spur to control them.

You can use a single pole switch but it is safer to stick with the double pole version

The breaker will be out of the loop as that will provide the power and you should not be fitting wires to it

Wiring Door jamb switch

I'm going to guide you on how to create what is known as a "switch leg".
1- run a 12-2 w/ground wire to the light fixture from new switch.
2- connect black wire "hot wire" to the shiny bronze tinted terminal on switch.
3- connect the white wire " neutral " to the silver connection on switch.
4- connect the naked copper wire " ground " to the ground terminal on switch
5- Disconnect the two white wires in the junction box from each other.
6- Connect the ground to ground in j-box
7- Connect the black to one of the whites in j-box
8- connect the white to the other white in j-box
9- wire nut and tape all connections
Oh and be sure that you turn off the breaker before you start. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Wall Lights

Only one socket outlet can be connected to a spur. (This can be a single or double outlet). Connecting a further outlet is NOT permitted, as this could overload the single cable supplying it. Each socket outlet or junction box on the ring can only have one spur connected. Trying to connect two or more is not only very difficult due to the number of wires involved, it can also result in an abnormally high load at that point in the ring.
The number of spurs on the ring must not exceed the number of other socket outlets. If for some reason you need a large number of spurs, it is time to replace the whole circuit rather than keep adding to it.

The only safe way to do this is to run a new circuit from your panel. good luck
