Question about Canon imageRUNNER 5000 Copier

IR5000 Service Mode

After going into service mode and clearing out all of the Department IDs, the screen to enter a department ID and password is still popping up (and there aren't any ID numbers). But now we are unable to hit the Additional Functions button (*) to get back into service mode, or to even just add new Department IDs, which is what we really want to do. Does anyone have any suggestions beyond turning on/off the machine? I am having the same problem on the IR5000. When I power on the unit the Department ID Screen shows up. It does not allow me to use the additional function button when in this mode.

Any ideas on how to clear this out altogether?

    hello chris,

I am puzzled. You say that you are not able to get into service mode? Please forgive me for asking but you do understand the difference between service mode, additional functions mode, and management mode. And that once you are in department ID mode and have cleared all the valid ID'S the machine is still in that mode and therefore you cant use the machine, which is where it sounds you are. I can think of no possible reason you should not be able to get into service mode, it is a fail safe. Service mode being * 28 *. Now realize that if the machine is in dept id mode, and there is a management password the copier will "seem" to not recognize the the asterisk(*) but it will respond if you follow the complete service mode sequence. So, press * 28 * and enter service mode. Then go to "copier>function>clear. At this point you can either press 'pwd-clr" which will get rid off the administrators password or you can do the "full Monty" and do an MMI clear which will blow out everything a user may have set up or changed. I keep looking at the first sentence of your inquiry which says you went into service mode to clear out the dept ID'S. That is where the misunderstanding lies. The only way you could have done that in service mode is to have performed an MMI clear. In which case you would not have posted your question. I by no means am trying to be a turd, I hope I dont sound that way.I just want to help. Good luck and let me know if I can help further. :-)...........................SPINAL

How to enter service mode of canon ir2270

) Go into Service Mode by hitting [Additional Functions-2 and 8-Additional Functions]
2) Select [COPIERicon1.png]
3) Select [FUNCTION] (One of the buttons across the top of the LCD)
4) Select [CLEAR]
5) Scroll to screen two of the LCD using the Right arrow key.
6) Select [PWD-CLR]

I would like to Reset/Retrieve Password for Copier Setup Canon, ImageRunner canon ir 2318

If you know the password, then under user mode, i think system sett., must be option for department id management where you can change passwords.

If you dont have pass, you can do clear all under service mode ( * 2 8 * ) if canon changed service mode, like on some series, you can try MENU and #.

Hope that helped

I forgot my password

If it is the system manager password, the one for the web management site, you will need to have a dealer or technician reset that in service mode.
If you are talking about your department ID code, you will need to talk to the person who manages those IDs.
If you are talking about a mailbox password, you should have your system manager reset your mailbox.
