Re: E051 sensor location
It is located behind the paper pickup unit on the pre-registration guide. There is a teeny tiny motor with a tiny plastic gear and the gear cracks which stalls the motor. The purpose of the sensor and motor are to find the front (or is it rear?) edge of the paper coming out of the duplex unit so it can accuratly line up the images on the paper.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Someone who is not a technician can only do the following:
1. disconnect the souter and detarche it from the machine.
2. E051 means the souter ias not functioning properly discopnnect and the problem is gone while you look for the technician to repair your souter.
E 051 IS PROBLEME OF REGISTRATION MOTOR SENSOR NOT OPERATING.THIS MAY BE DUE TO NON MOVEMENT OF SLIDER FOR FAILURE OF GEAR BREAKAGE OR OBSTRUCTION FOR ITS MOVEMENT.LOCATION AFTER OPENING RIGHT DOOR JUST BELOW FEEDER METAL PLATE.

E 051 is the horizonal motor problem, you can take out the pick up ***'y. On the motor have a small gear, sometime this gear broken.
Or the horizontal reg motor became stuck in the wrong position. I was able to manually move it back and rebooted copier. Not sure why the motor was in the wrong position-cust related?

My machine gave me an error E051 and it could not start. when i restarted, it still ended at that. i decided to switch it off and wait for the technician to come and fix it. the next morning i arrived before the technician came and when i switched on, it was very fine.
