a machine that new I would defiantly take it back and have it either fixed or replace, time is on your side i would take advantage of the manufacture warranty. i would also look on the keyboard see if there is a mouse locking feature, its normally the picture of a mouse on one of your function keys, press function and the key with the mouse icon on it and that may take care of it.
maybe your mouse is not comaptibel with the system of your laptop or you need the disk driver to install the mouse to work properly?
or your mouse is already damage and need to replace try to change it with a new one.
try to get a mouse built for laptops or get a mouse from the same brand as the laptop. and check to see if when you plug in the mouse on screen it says 'new hard ware found' if not it is not reconizeing it.
You can order from acer (recovery cd/dvd).
but if your laptop come with vista, i amnot sure if you can buy xp from acer.
But you can buy MS XP profesional from Microsoft. if you buy from microsoft, you just need to installed it and download the driver from www.acerpanam.com.
