Older Vivitar 28mm Lens on New Nikon D50...

I would like to be able to use my older Vivitar wide-angle 28mm lens on my new Nikon D50 Digital camera. The lens was used on an old Canon EF 35mm film camera that was stolen but, I still have the lenses.
I understand that adapters are complex but, have heard that this is possible. Nobody in the stores seems to have a clue as to where to start.
Are you aware of an adapter that would allow this to happen? I would be grateful if you are.

Bob, there are several reasons why this won't work, mainly cost

An older manual focus wide angle will work in the manual mode on a D50. The can be had very cheap on eBay and the like.

Converting one that has a Canon FD mount to a Nikon is possible, but you would need one with a Nikon mount for parts. The focal plane distances are different between Nikon and Canon. An adapter for this is not possible without adding optics to compensate
