The convergence going bad again on my Hitachi 51swx20b

Sounds like loose solder on the chips. Either that or they are failing. You can save money next time by doing it yourself with a kit from www.TvRepairKits.com

There are two STK on conv. board, even if they are not 392-180.

To know if the STK are the problem, test the pico fuses at base for continuity.
Replacing STKs require a precision soldering job, using thermal compound and taking care not to damage C board. This is not a job for beginners, and should be done by an experienced technician.

That series usually used the STK 392-110.

It has been upgraded to the STK 392-180. 2 of them.

It looks more like an open solder because you were able to align it properly after replacing the STK ICs, if there was an open resistor(s) you would not be able to get it align.
I would suggest to go back and double check the solder joints on the STK ICs as well add some fresh solder to the resistors nearby the stk392-180.
Good Luck.

Convergence problem

That unit has a convergence repair kit that should fix most problems. Order it directly from Hitachi p/n# X480295. It contains: Rk42 3.3 Ohm 1w Rk46 1.8 Ohm 1w Rk50 3.3 Ohm 1w Rk54 1.8 Ohm 1w Rk58 3.9 Ohm 1w Rk62 2.2 Ohm 1w Ik04 Stk392-150 Ik05 Stk392-150 And I would strongly recommend testing all the resistors in that circuit for change in value. Are you using a good heat sink compound on the STK's when you installed them? That and ordering the japanese knock-offs for STK's are the two most common critical mistakes made. Originally that unit had two STK392-110's for conv. amps. Even Hitachi recommends subbing to a STK392-150 or 180 for greater reliability. You do realize that for the cost you have after two failed attempts you probably could have taken this to a reputable shop and watching the ball games now. :) (no disrespect intended) Good Luck!
