Hi there

I just sent you an email through fixya and I don't know if it went through but I was just saying about the fan and the grey bar. The problem with the fan, is not the fan itself, but the controller board not supplying enough voltage to the fan (you can see this by powering the fan on its own using a 6volt supply, you will fine that the fan will work perfectly normal), thus having to replace the entire control board at around $650+, this is a very common fault for these models. The grey bar as meantioned in my post is caused by the faulty light tunnel, there is a link I've posted here somewhere which tells you how to fix it, but you need extremely strong glue and electronics skills lol, otherwise infocus wouldn't sell me the part on its own, only the whole optical enigne at another $450+. Very poor service in regards to infocus.

Cheers
Rusteee

How to unlock keypad locked in infocus in124 without remote?

Without a remote control; you can't. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability. Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the sites.

Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops. Visit some on-line sites too, which deals with electronic spare parts.

Kodak carousel 650h will not advance or go back. Not mechanically jammed. Doesn't respond to buttons either on main housing or from remote. Select button, fan and lamp all ok.

If the select button functions correctly, then it sounds like you have a wire broken or a wire nut that holds a bundle of wires together has fallen off. If it was the solenoid link, then the Select function would not work. After removing the bottom cover, look for the orange wires, That is the cycle circuit. Look for a broken or unattached orange wire from the side button and the remote receptacle.
The other possibility is that the direction lever is stuck, bound up or the direction lever spring is broken. The attached image of the top plate of the slide change mechanism will show you the end of the direction lever. It should move freely, up & down on its center pivot. You should see a small, wire spring, about 2-3 inches long on the lever. If the spring is not there, or the lever does not move freely, that may be the cause of no forward or reverse.

How to install a fan in a KODAK carousel projector.... fan is noisey

Chances are that it isn't the fan in your Carousel Slide Projector that's noisy, it's a stretched-out fan belt. While there are still parts available (www.micro-tools.com), to complete this repair is pretty much a total tear-down of the projector. Unless you have been in a projector before (and have a service manual), you may cause more harm. I would recommend finding a factory-trained repair dealer to do this for you.

High pitch noise from the projector and is not from the fans

it's the colorwheel. if you have an infocus x1a, it is a dlp projector and has a colorwheel and dmd chip instead of 3 lcd panels. the colorwheel spins to allow the lamp to stike. it should make a slight high-pitched squeal. if it's too loud, the motor is shot and needs replacing.

I cant play my dvd on my infocus LP280 projector

Hi,
Please provide us with more details like the DVD player make/model and what is the connection cable you are using.
Normally, you should be able to connect the DVD player through the AV out pins and connnect it to AV in of the projector.
Other options that can be used are:
S-Video connector, component video connectors, and DVI-D connections
Please reply for more help and clarifications. Thanks.

Infocus x1a fan replacement

to remove the fan: remove the 8 screws from the bottom of the projector (4 silver, 4 inset and brass) and the 2 screws from the back. pull the back from the bottom, but use a small flat-head screwdriver to release the tabs seen through the topmost vent of the back. once off, unplug the speaker wires on the right and the cable harness on the left. pull the top off while pulling the front off from the bottom. remove the wire harnesses from the power supply board and the ground wire from the power input board. take the 4 screws off of the power input board and the 4 or 5 screws from the power supply board (and 1 center clip) and remove. take out the 4 or 5 screws from the metal shield and remove shield. now you can unplug the fan that need replacing and access the 2 screws holding the fan in. remove fan and replace with a like fan. since the fan speed is not monitored, if you can find one that's the same size, power, and plug size, use it. otherwise, contact an infocus service center and ask them for infocus part # 526-0192-00. reverse instructions to put it back together. but you must remove the front from the top case, put the top on first, plug the speaker and left harness in, then put the back and front on. wasn't that fun?

Blur

Well, that's a general statement. If you are looking to have the image look like a HDTV then you have the wrong impression of the projector's capabilities. At 800x600 resolution you will get a "good" but not great image especially if compared to a tube tv or plasma/lcd. If the graphics are sharp when you press the menu key then you probably do not have an issue. If, however, even the graphics are blurry, then you have to manually adjust the Grey outer focus ring on the lens. The inner ring will adjust the zoom. Hope this helps.

Infocus x1 projector

Indeed, the problem you describe is the Color Wheel. Very common issue in the X1,2 projectors. Unfortunately the only fix is to replace this wheel. The cost of the part generally runs around $175 but the labor to replace is about the same. You will need to find an authorized service center where you live or send it to a repair facility. Parts for any of the InFocus units are generally not available to the public, alas the Service Centers. Maybe for the same cost you could look at a new projector, like I did.
