My Spidem Villa has stopped grinding beans when I press the button for an espresso. The automatic tamper tamps an empty chamber and then hot water comes out, but no coffee is ground or put into the chamber. I've thoroughly cleaned it, and that did not help.

Hi
Sorry but that doesn't make sence. The grind chamber has to be full inorder for the doser to activate, unless you have an oiley bean and it has hardened inside the doser.
Try removing the brew group. Then inside on the roof of the machine above where the brew unit sat, there is a drop chute where the coffee is dropped into the brew unit. From the left side of the drop chute pull down and back, and it should drop coffee. This should clear the opening that relieves pressure on the passage. There is a passage inside the drop chute area that goes to the grinder. Vacuum it out. It will be on the right side of the drop chute.
Once that is cleared go to the bean hopper. There is a lever under the bean hopper. Push the lever back to the largest number. You can push the lever to a larger number any time, but it has to be grinding to pull to a smaller number. Now replace everything and make your coffee. Once you have made your coffee you can pull back to a number that was higher than the one you had it on, but only when the grinder is running.

Sorry wrong machine. Once that is cleared go to the bean hopper. There is a knob in the bean hopper (the large one) Turn the knob to the largest #. Not the lever. You can turn the knob to a larger number any time, but it has to be grinding to turn to a smaller number. Now replace everything and make your coffee. Once you have made your coffee you can turn back to a number that was higher than the one you had it on, but only when the grinder is running.

I'm having the same problem. The grinder does nothing but the machine makes all of the noises like it is going through the correct routine. Then hot water comes out. I cleaned out the shoot, took the grinder parts out and cleaned it and still nothing.

My coffee is to strong

You can change the coffee dose that you put in each cup by lifting the cover on the bean hopper (where you put beans), turn the dose knob (small knob closest to front of machine) clockwise to decrease the amount of coffee used for each cup. Set the knob and then press the coffee button. Gradually decrease the dose until you find the taste you like.

Spidem Trevi Plus coffee is not being dispensed.

The grind chamber is blocked, remove the beans and brew unit then clean the grinds chamber, then adjust the grind 2 numbers coarser and try again.

Hello. I have a saeco vienna superautomatic

This happens due to condensation caused by steam developed at the end of the grinding cycle. Make sure that the grinding chamber is completely cleaned and dried before using the grinder.

  1. Turn the whole bean chamber to the right until it can be lifted off the base. This will allow you to clean the grinding wheel. NOTE: Never use water or liquid for cleaning the lower grinding section of this appliance.
  2. Clean interior recesses with a soft brush (not provided).
  3. Wash the whole bean chamber and lid and the ground coffee chamber and lid in mild detergent and water. These items are only dishwasher safe on the top rack of your dishwasher. Wipe exterior with a damp cloth. Do not immerse mill in water or any other liquid or place in dishwasher. Use only non-abrasive cleaners to remove stains.
  4. After completely drying, replace whole bean chamber. Important: when replacing whole bean chamber, screw on completely before setting grinding rate. Turn chamber clockwise (as viewed from top), until it will not turn. Fill with whole coffee beans for grinding and replace lid.
  5. Replace ground coffee chamber and lid, making sure it snaps securely into place.

My Saeco Spidem Villa has just stopped working. i have had it 6 months and it has been fine until about 2 weeks ago when it wouldn't always switch on when i pressed the power button. now it has packed up...

Have you checked the power button to make sure it is not defective, if yes then check the capacitor under the pump to make sure it is not damaged.

How do you take apart the grinder on Saeco Spidem Villa Household Coffee Machine

There should be screws on the side or the bottom of the unit that will allow you to pull it apart. The problem seems to be that the two grinding wheels have gone bad and needs to be replaced. On this unit you cannot adjust the grinding as far as would need to be to fix the problem when the teeth get to small

Remove all the beans in the hopper, there are 2-3 screws in the hopper. Remove and then lift hopper, this will give access to the grinder chamber and burrs.
