Question about X2Gen MG19MY 19" LCD Monitor

X2gen 19" monitor

The power goes off without warning and used to come on again if you wiggle the cable, but now nothing happens. It has a power cable with a transformer on it, so I don't know if its the cable, the transformer, or what. Also, is it worth repairing, or could I somewhere get a new transformer?

Power went off at monitor. The power supply has power to it as evidenced by a lighted LED but LED on the monitor is not lighted.

There are two separate cases listed above. The first four lines of the above post were already on your web site having been posted by someone else having a different but similar problem. My problem is that the monitor just shut down unexpectedly and will not power on again. I checked the power available at the end of the power cord that plugs into the monitor and it showed 11.17 volts. The power supply is listed at 12 volts output. I don't have any idea how critical the voltage is. I hope this additional information will help solve my problem. Thank you.

Thanks for your suggestions Eske. I will order a new transformer and see if that solves the problem. I will let you know.

It is not a power supply problem 11.17 volts on 12 volts is ok, the monitor supprts a range of over 2V difference.
If it is faulty female power slot on monitor, it would go on and off randomly or when moved, or not turn on at all.

If the monitor goes off immediately then is a short, or a lose contact inside, or a fault on the monitor board.

If the monitor goes off approssimatively always after same time (eg.15/20 mins) than may be overheating, some job may be done on the board in this case.

If it was me, i would buy a new transformer, if the problem still occured, then i would return it. The monitor may be haveing hardware issues with its power supply.

Hi there

If there is power on the transformer , then it must be the part going into the screen.

It will be cheaper to have it repaired !

Check if your warranty is still valid

I would recommend geting a new transformer, althought its possible that there is a connection loss somewhere in the middle or then it would require replacement parts, does the transformer have a power light on it?

Shouldnt cost alot, checking.

It sounds like the PC video color setting is at 16 instead of 24 or 32 bit color setup. You need to check the display properties setting on the PC (Right click on the desk top). Also try it on other PC and also check the VGA cable.

Screen comes on for 2 seconds and goes black again - have tried unplugging all cables. All are secure.

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Screen goes black but power light stays on

Hello. I had the same problem with my X2gen 19" (model MW19R)monitor. In my case, the monitor would turn off after 20 seconds or so but the blue power light would stay on as well. I had to replace a high voltage capacitor located in the backlight power supply board. There are 4 blue capacitors on the board which are identical and they are marked as 27J 3KV. Fortunately, I only had to replace one of these capacitors ( it was turning a yellowish brownish color ). Hope this helps.

Try your monitor cable connections on both your pc and into your monitor.
Make sure they are TIGHT and level.

Also, it could be your video display card is faulty or your video display drivers are corrupt.

Try setting your desktop to a lower resolution, like 800x600 and see it that helps.

Need new power cord for x2gen monitor

You should be able to go to any local store like BestBuy and pick up a power cable. The monitor uses the same power cable as a Desktop PC.
