how to install my scanner acer Prisa 340p with winXP because the installation CD support only win95, win98, winNT,and when I connect the scanner to the computer ,the computer can see the new hardware but the installation failled, and the scanner doesn't work with the pc, what can...
If the Acer has an parallel connection and not USB this indicated to me it is an older machine from the Win98 era.
In which case it will not work with Vista.
Indeed many newer devices do not work with Vista there is a real issue here
Check back with Dell on this.
In a word you cannot. Try the Acer site to see if they offer a suitable software conversion- but this late on it is not likely.
You could try/Start/Programs/Accessories/Compatibility Wizard- then set the software you use to 'Run as 95/98 - it may work.
What it amounts to is this- A scanner has its own processor that controls the scan tracking the capture device DPI and all that and in your case it is looking for DOS commands and XP is sending out NTFS commands - and they no speak to each other.
