DDR2 will not work on this board. The most you can get is DDR333 Double sided 1024. Your board has two DDR slots, you can go up to 2 gigs of memory from the info on intels web support.

If you mean you want to replace DDR RAM with DDR2 or DDR3 RAM, that is impossible. MBs are designed for one type and the sockets themselves are keyed differently and use different voltages.

For a Chaintech 9BIA motherboard;

Motherboard chipset is an Intel 845,

{Single Data Rate. The proper term, not just Sdram.
Double Data Rate Sdram is Sdram.
Double Data Rate 2 Sdram is Sdram.
Double Data Rate 3 Sdram is Sdram.
DDR Sdram, DDR2 Sdram, DDR3 Sdram.

Low-Density, Unbuffered, Non-ECC, Cas Latency of 3

(Don't get some cr@p off of Ebay.
It's usually high-density, ECC, that was used by old server computers)

WHEW! Unless you just want to run 1GB of ram memory, I would toss that board! (Two 512MB sticks) ->

-> Need two 1GB sticks of SDR Sdram at 133MHz

$400 smakeroos USD!!

Bah! That is just cra-zy!

Maximum TOTAL Amount is 2GigaByte. (2GB)
Maximum Amount for EACH ram memory slot is 1GB.

IF, you only have ONE ram memory module ('Stick'), it goes in Slot 1. (DIMM 1)
That is the ram memory slot closest to the processor socket.
The Processor reads ram memory Slot 1 first.

Does intel d845gvs1 motherboard supports DDR2 ram?

Hi there,
From an Intel page of this boards nearest "relatives" in the d845 series...

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845gvsr/sb/cs-008824.htm

It shows the following for memory speed options:
333, 266 and 200 MHz DDR SDRAM

And if I remember correctly, that era of motherboards came out when ddr2 didn't exist in the market. Beyond that, the above stated memory speeds show that this board didn't even support the PC-3200(400MHz) ram, which was the final step in DDR1 memory.

The short answer to your question is: No, that motherboard of yours does not support ddr2 ram.

I hope that gets you the information you need.

I have a intel 845gvsr board, want to replace a Ram. What type of RAM is suitable for this board?

Your Intel D845GVSR has,

1. Two ram slots.

2.Maximum Amount of ram is 1GB for EACH ram slot.

3.Maximum TOTAL Amount is 2GB, (1GB in each ram slot)

4.Uses DDR Sdram at 400MHz, (PC3200), OR
DDR Sdram at 533MHz, (PC4200)

This is an example of DDR Sdram at 400MHz, (PC3200),

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1354&name=PC3200-DDR-Dual-Channel-Memory&Nav=|c:1352|&Sort=0&Recs=10

(Not advertising for this website. There are many places to buy ram memory)
512MB + 512MB = 1024MB, or also stated as 1GB
1024MB = 1GB

Max RAM for Intel 102 GGC motherboard

Thanks to Intel website The board has two 240-pin DIMM sockets and supports the following memory features: * 1.8 V (only) DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts * Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported. * 2 GB maximum total system memory * Minimum total system memory: 128 MB * Non-ECC DIMMs * Serial Presence Detect * DDR2 533 or DDR2 400 SDRAM DIMMs Note To be fully compliant with all applicable DDR SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance. If non-SPD memory is installed, the BIOS will attempt to correctly configure the memory settings, but performance and reliability may be impacted or the DIMMs may not function under the determined frequency.

check your previous memory if its dd1, ddr2 or dd3 and check also your motherboard's manual for this. be sure that you add the same specs of memory otherwise remove your previous memory.

Regarding upgrading RAM

You'll need 184-pin ddr sdram memory
Supported speeds are 333, 266, and 200 mhz
Max memory for your motherboard is 2 gb, so the best you can get for your motherboard is:
2 x 1GB 333mhz 184-pin DDR SDRAM

Graphics card upgrade

Not compatable at all.
DDR SDRAM memory uses 184 Pin Dimms
Double-Data-Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory, better known as DDR SDRAM or DDR RAM for short, is a type of very fast computer memory. DDR RAM is based on the same architecture as SDRAM, but utilizes the clock signal differently to transfer twice the data in the same amount of time.

DDR2 SDRAM uses 240 Pin Dimms.
DDR2 SDRAM improves on DDR SDRAM by using differential signaling and lower voltages to support significant performance advantages over DDR SDRAM.

If your question has to do with buying a video card that is going to use DDR2 ram, that would be a faster graphics card. You can also get video cards with DDR3 ram which again is even faster.
Oddly enough in respect to system memory DDR2 is supposed to be faster than DDR yet the DDR memory cost more than the DDR2. Go figure.
