I need to Have a timer created in excel

Well, I work in a call center and we take call, we have to finish the calls at a specified time. Each calls could vary from 6 sec (Answering machine calls) to long calls. I need a timer to be created so that every time a call comes in and when the agent clicks on a start button the present time is displayed and when the call stops and the agent clicks on the stop button the present time is displayed on the excel sheet.

Create a button tied to a now function for each time, displayed based on your choices (probably in a second sheet, if you don't want the operator to see it).

Then, if you want this information stored for future reference, it will take writing/recording a macro to write the data to a line, move down one line, and record at the next time the button(s) are clicked. The reason I say button(s) is that you could have the macro record both times based on hitting the end button, or you could have a beginning record when button #1 is hit, and then a second macro moves to a second cell when button #2 is hit and both record the time (now). Then you have a third cell which calculates the time involved by subtracting beginning time from end time.

If you need further assistance, please post back. Otherwise, thanks for rating FixYa!

Wanted to add one more comment - NOW will reset to current each time it is used, so I would recomment that in your macro, you copy the cell to another and paste as a value. This way, yiur calculation is based on the original data and does not change and always become -0-. Thanks again!

Excel Error Message. What can I do to stop this error?

A corrupt excel spreadsheet can be repaired by using Open and Repair technique. It is a built-in repair function that opens a corrupt excel file forcefully.
*OpenMS Excel >pressCtrl+O >locate corrupt excel spreadsheet and select it.
*Click on the arrow shown besideOpenbutton>selectOpen and Repair.
It will take just a few seconds to be completed and selected file will be opened, if possible.

Or if this doesn't work, one may take help of a third-party

I lost my password for the ms excel file that i created 2 months back. how should i open it now.

Hello,

While we do not give information for unlocking software due to copyright infringement, this is an altogether different matter. You have locked a document you previously created and forgot the password. There are fortunately quite a few programs to effectively retrieve your password for you, though I will provide you a link to one that I have used before, so you know it will work and is virus-free. You need to have Microsoft .net framework installed on your computer, though the .net (dot net) framework free download is software from Microsoft and is also quite safe. It is already installed on many computers for a variety of reasons. You can find the password retreiver here: http://www.freewordexcelpassword.com/downloads/FreeWordExcelpasswordrecoverywizard.zip

and it a compressed (zip) file. If you have any other questions, please dont hesitate to contact us again.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Writing a formula for a sumif problem

Brenda,

Your problem is not so much the formula but the cells that contain the hours for each call. Since they contain the text “hrs” (for example “2.25hrs”) this turns the whole cell to text, not numeric, which will always add up to zero in Excel. So do two things:
- Change the cells in column H (Time Spent) to numeric (2.25 instead of 2.25hrs) – you might want to change the column header to Time Spent In Hrs just to b clear
- Use this formula =SUMIF(E8:E26, 1, H8:H26)
For the formula change the middle number to correspond to the operator ID – for example for operator 2 change the formula to =SUMIF(E8:E26, 2, H8:H26)

This should do it.

BTW, sent you a similar email about this.

Looking for a free excel download. Can't find one. Does it exist?

Not Excel for free, however.....

There is an Office Suite that can create and edit just about anything MicroSoft programs can. It's called OpenOffice.

It can be downloaded from:

And yes....it's FREE!

Increment a number per record in Microsoft Excel

For what you are talking about doing, Microsoft Access would probably be a better option. With Microsoft Access, you can create a custom form and have it automatically give a number.

Microsoft Excel Temp Files

I just finished with Trend Micro help support and they solved this problem for me. Open the main console for Trend Micro. Click on Viruses & Spyware Controls. Click on the "settings" for Protection Against Viruses & Spyware. Click on Advanced Settings. Under the section for "What Should TMIS Check for Threats" click on the circle for "Specify Targets that you choose". Click on "Select" next to "Ignore Specific Files & Folders". Then Add and folders of files that you do not want Trend Micro to check and make backups for. That solved my issue...hope it helps you too.

Excel

Your issue is not stated very clearly so I'll make some guesses about your problem.
I'm guessing you mean "rate" (Starts-per-Week) is the number of starts you have that week.
I'll guess that those starts are not new start dates but something else-maybe job starts.
Each start implies a job duration period. Do you want to know the finish date of each job or are you only interested in when the last job will be completed? Don't think I can give you meaningful Excel formulas at this time.
Maybe Excel is the best tool for this job but I suspect someting like Microsoft Project would be more appropriate (but expensive). You should Google "project tracking", "project orgainization" and "Gant chart" and read what you find to get a good feel for your problem and how to solve it.
