I can't Tune my V32XBR1 in Australia (by 2 users)

posted by AustBren on Apr 03, 2008

I have returned fron Chile to Australia (I lived in Chile for 18 months and purchased a Sony Bravia KDL-V32XBR1 LCD HDTV. Since returning to Australia, I have not been able to tune the TV to the Australian digital signals. Is there any software upgrade or can I replace the HDTV integrated tuner??

Hi Ed,
Thanks for your reply. No I don't have cable - I have it connected to the free to air antenna via a 75ohm coax cable. I think I have two problems:
1: it is a NTSC TV and we use PAL here which I can get around it by using my DVD recorder tuner and setting the DVD units output to NTSC
2: I think I have found the equivalent TV sold in Australia and it seems to have a different TV tuner specification/frequency
My best option may be to see if I can replace the tuner with one from the Aust TV - any comment?
Thanks
Brendan

I have a similar LCD, a KDL-40-X2000 which was purchased in the UK about 12 months ago. We have since moved to Australia and have had problems with the free to air HD channels.
We have all of the other free to air digital channels, but the Television will not tune into the HD channels.
Is it a regional setting or something like that?
I have another Sony LCD, a KDL-32-2000 which has exactly the same problem,. No HD.
I feel like I am missing out, is there any solution for me?

Greetings...

Are you connecting to a digital signal from a cable box using an HDMI cable?

Hi Brendan...

This is a couple of bucks, but looks to take whatever signal you might have in the area and convert to what you need...

Having run a help desk I tend to start with the easy questions, like, is it plugged in...

So off the air this kind of converter should take whatever the signal and covert to Sony... just in case the DVD player does not do the job...

Hope this rates a small bump on the rating scale...

Have a great day...
