HP C6280 All-In-One: Problem with "Set As New Defaults" feature
I have problems with persistent storing of settings on my All-In-One HP
C6280 (and I already replace unit with a second one and talk to HP
support). But it seems that saved settings (e.g. "Set As New Defaults"
in the copy menu) are not "surviving" a turn-off turn-on of the device
(the power supply is not disconnected, device is just turned-off via
the on/off button on the printer).
It will be great if somebody who owns C6280 and have few minutes to
perform this test (e.g. set copy quality to "Fast", click on "Set As
New Defaults", turn the device off and then on, and verify if setting
is still there, similar for e.g. turnig the slide show off, etc.). I'm just
curious if this flaw is a general problem (probably firmware), or there
is a production error (in this case probably a hardware failure).

What is happening, is the memory battery has failed.
When you remove the power, the settigs are stored in memory, and that memory is maintained by a lithium battery, either in the memory chip itself or mounted to the board.
If the battery is not good, the machine will reset back to the original factory settings.

estore the factory-set defaults Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the product and network settings to the factory defaults. It
will not reset the page count, tray size, or language. To restore the product to the factory-default settings,
follow these steps. CAUTION: Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the settings to the factory defaults, and it also
deletes any pages that are stored in the memory. 1. On the product control panel, press or touch the Setup
Open the Service menu.button.2. 3. Select the Restore Defaults option, and then press or touch the OK button.
The product automatically restarts.
Try replacing the magenta with another cartridge whether refill or genuine new cartridge. Usually if the cartrige is faulty the retail store you purchased it should exchange it for you. If problem still persist clean contacts where cartridge sits in printer with wet qtip and carefully clean area, also do same to cartridge. Reinstall cartridge and see if the printer will except cartridge. If still havinging issue, bring printer to a certified technician or call HP at 1800-474-6836 for technical support.
Not very specific. However, I would suggest that you go to START, SETTINGS and select and remove you printer. Then goto START< SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, Remove & Add(xp) [Programs & Features(vista). There install all programs relating to the printer.
Before reinstalling the printer, be sure to UNPLUG the USB cable. run the install disk.....do not plug the USB in until prompted. That should fix your problem.

You can enlarge or reduce the size of an original to fit a specific paper size, adjust the darkness of the copy, and use special features to make high-quality copies of photos, including borderless copies.
Press Copy repeatedly to display the appropriate menu. The following menus are available: – Number of copies – Reduce/Enlarge – Copy Quality – Copy Paper Size – Paper Type – Lighter/Darker – Enhancements – Set New Defaults 2. Press the until the appropriate setting appears. 3. Do one of the following: – To change more settings, press Copy. This selects the current setting and displays the next menu. – To start the copy job, press Start Color or Start Black.
To save the current settings as defaults for future jobs 1. Make any needed changes to the settings in the Copy Menu. 2. Press Copy repeatedly until Set New Defaults appears. 3. Press until Yes appears and then press OK.
You do it through the software on your PC. HP has user software that you installed when you set up the printer. There is usually a setting for color/BW there. Otherwise use the printer properties settings.
i would like to know if you did completely install the printer software of this printer.if you did kindly locate the icon HP SOLUTION center,go to settings>>scan setting>>san to set-up>>restore to defaults.kindly check now if the front panel destination list has generated the options then click apply and OKAY.try to press now the scan button of the printer is the scan options are generated...
