Push the whisk attachment post up into the mixer, turn counter-clockwise and it should lock into position.
Oops, sorry, I missed your "anti-clockwise" comment. Take a look at the top of the wisk attachment post, making note of the little cross bar. When you push the attachment up into the mixer, and turn the attachment counter clockwise, you will feel a click and the attachment should be in as far as it will go, as well as locking into position. I actually looked at the inside of the holder when I first got my Kenwood (1983) to see what held the stem in place because I was turning it the wrong way.
