If the solution provided by map9966 does not work.. I think your hard-drive may be failing. Try replacing it with a new one.

Hi iggulden, I suggest you back up your personal data. Get it off the primary hard drive. While your windows is still running.
When you’re finished, find the Mfg's name of your hard drive & S/N. Go to the Mfg's web site & download their software tools for checking the hard drive/testing & setting up the drive for a fresh install of windows. Most Mfg's have software to create a bootable floppy disk & or a bootable CD. (I doubt your troubles are from the motherboard just by your description). After running the Mfg's software & a fresh install of windows your system will run much better. Give it a try before you attack your motherboard.

Good Luck! Take your time.
Have more questions, feel free to ask.

I dont thing this is a virus problem but a heat problem. if you dont mind getting inside the box see how clean it is and put your hand on the power box case .. then unplug all the hardware except the mother board then turn the unit on, if it goes on then plug 1 hardware at a time.

You might try the battery first. If it's not getting properly charged then it won't start. Then if you let it sit for hours (or days) it gets enough charge to start. It could also be that the power cord or connection point is faulty. I would check these things before looking at the mother board. Most laptops will give you a "blue screen of death" if the mother board is going out.

Hello my friend, regarding your problem do you have installed program or driver software lately before this blue screen appear? i guess the problem here is more on the memory dumping of your computer. either the latest installed software is not functioning will or  u have a memory device problem either to much heat or cause by some circuit problem that made the memory device problematic. the worst case here is to replace memory but for now try to check first if the memory is running well and stay in its standard cooling temperature. Or you can reprogram your computer.

swap monitors if monitor is same dell brand then its the monitor. otherwise you can buy a Video card PROVIDED that you can disable from setup the MOBO video card, and install drivers, also speaking of drivers try uninstalling the video and monitor drivers first !! the do mon swap, finally new vid card .

funky things can happen to drivers, esp improper shutting down windows like flip a power switch or not having a UPS and computer shuts down during a power outage or storm. seen this happen as well.
