Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
It just all of the sudden stopped working. It reads PS1 and music CD's fine. But it just doesn't read any of PS2 games. I haven't taken it apart yet, but if I need to I will. Pleasssee just tell me what to do to make it work. Besides buying a new one.
This is a problem with the laser that reads th disks. these lasers have two adjustments on the bottom of them, one for CDs (PS1 games) and one for DVD (PS2 games). It is sometimes possible to adjust the DVD side and get it to work (there are many tutorials on the web on how to do this), but unfortunatly this is a temporary fix. The only real fix is to buy another laser. They are also very abundant on the web (ebay is a great source for them too!). They are very reasonably priced now. Either way the unit will have to be disassembled. Hope this helps you out...

Tips for a great answer:
Oct 06, 2010 | Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console

Nov 20, 2008 | Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
It should play Cd, Cdr, and DVD as well. If it will play PS2 and ps1, it should have not problem playing the other three. If your discs are dirty that was cause it not to read. If its more can you please expand on what is happening.
