I just spoke to a sales person at HP who told me they do not carry any products that fax directly to PC, so I assume that the L7780 does not have this feature. The only manufacturer I can find so far that does this is Brother, and we paid over $500 for a multifunction printer from them, and the fax burned out in less than a year and a half (but after the warranty ran out). Xerox offers software that you can purchase separately that works with their multifunction printers to do this. I'm still looking...

We cannot receive faxes directly to the PC. We will receive the faxes only to the printer.

I have an HP L7780. We are having an issue receiving faxing. The pages are often only 1/4 complete. There is no reported error. It doesn't happen all the time.

Send a fax on this number
1-888 HP FAX ME (1-888-473-2963)

and see whether you receive a fax from hp or not whenever HP receives a fax from any number it sends back a fax to prove the functionality you can say.

the reason behind reviving the 1/4th fax can be fault at sender's end

MX310 - faxes in memory. Cartridges have been replaced. Error of low ink remains. What is the key sequence to retrieve these faxes?

Press Fax then Menu. You should see Fax Settings across the top row. Use the left/right arrows to select Memory Reference and press OK. Again use the left/right arrows to select Print Document and press OK. Select the transaction (RX) number of the fax you want to print (received faxes start at 5001) and press OK. Then choose whether you want the first page or the entire fax (yes to first page only or no for the entire fax) and press OK. To print additional faxes repeat from the Select RX number. Print the Memory List to find out which fax is which (from the list that you see under Print Document.

Then you can delete these by selecting Delete Document instead of Print Document in the above directions. Then press OK followed by Yes or No for deleting the document.

Finally press Stop/Reset to leave the menu.

I hope this helps.

I have an all in one and I can print, scan, and

On the printer press setup-->choose tools option-->under tools-->choose print a fax test page.

Find out how is the printer connected with the fax line.

Note:- Line 1 at the back of the printer should be connected directly to the wall jack of phone line.

Now Follow the instrcution below.
  1. Send a one page black and white text fax to 1-888-hpfaxme (1-888-473-2963).
  2. When your fax is received by the HP Test Fax Service, They will generate a return fax to you within five minutes confirming that they have received your fax. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax with your fax machine.
If you do not receive a return fax within 5-7 minutes, there may be a problem with the setup of your fax machine. Note:-The most common cause of failure is that the fax number set in the Fax Header on the machine does not match the number of the phone line connected to the fax. Also, ensure that the fax header contains the full 10-digit telephone number of the fax machine, including the area code.

BLOCKED CALLS

If you subscribe to a caller ID service through your phone provider, you can block
specific fax numbers so the device does not print faxes received from those numbers.
When an incoming fax call is received, the device compares the number to the list of
junk fax numbers to determine if the call should be blocked. If the number matches a
number in the blocked fax numbers list, the fax is not printed.
Set the junk fax mode
By default, Block Junk Fax mode is turned On. If you do not subscribe to a caller ID
service through your phone provider, or do not want to use this feature, you can turn
off this setting.
To set the junk fax mode
▲ Some models have a Block Junk Fax button. Depending on the model you have,
do one of the following:
Block Junk Fax button: Press the Junk Fax Blocker button, select the Block
Junk Fax option, and then select On or Off.
Color display menu: Press Setup, select Basic Fax Menu, select Junk Fax
Blocker Setup, select Block Junk Fax, and then select On or Off.
Add numbers to the junk fax list
There are two ways to add a number to your junk list. You can select numbers from
your caller ID history, or you can enter new numbers. The numbers in your junk list are
blocked if Block Junk Fax mode is set to On.

Our new HP Oficejet Pro L7780 can send faxes but can't receive

Hi,

First things first, i really want to know how things being setup in your end. Let say for example, from the walljack what is the device connected to it. Or if your using one line for both incoming calls and faxes. Or if your using a DSL also for that same phone number for faxing/incoming calls.

Those are just severa factors that affect your problems. Meanwhile, i cant give you a solution on your issue since i still dont have a clear picture on are the devices connected with each other. ALso, its really advisable that you need to use the telephone cord that came out with the box.

Thank you so much. I remain.

I have bought a 4 in 1 photocopier and wish to use the equipment to receive faxes whilst conected to the computer modem and telephone service. My fax is not connecting. Please assist Model x5495

You need to plug the copier direct to the telephone jack.
The copier will not receive any faxes as the modem on the PC is intercepting them.
If you need the PC on-line via the modem then you will need to swap out when you want to receive faxes.(or get a second line for the faxing)
If you do not use the modem on the PC for anything then leave the cable plugged into the copier.
It should automatically receive your faxes.
There will be an option somewhere for you to be able to print the fax directly or to transfer to the PC to view therefore saving paper and allowing you to make changes and fax back.
Hope this is helpful.
Please let me know if you get it to work
