After loading and patching canon multipass f50 drivers, speakers died

Hi,
After loading and then subsequently patching the drivers for a canon multipass f50 on my HP ZE5200 (model 5270) running XP Pro SP 2, my speakers died. I reinstalled codecs (sp?) and now the left speaker works, but not the right.
Other than deinstalling and then letting Windows find and reinstall all sound drivers (I am leary of this), do you have any ideas?
Best,
Lisa

    Hi Dr Nitin,

The balance bar is set center for all options, however for PC Speaker it is greyed out - as if the utility had determined I have only one speaker and thus it disabled the balance.
Any ideas? Both speakers worked beautifully before.

    Best,
    Lisa

Check your Sound Setting in Control Pannel>Sounds. Balance bar should be in Center, neither Right nor Left.

Just upgraded my system to new PC with Vista on it. Can't find my original Canon Multipass F50 discs to load the drivers, etc. Can I find this online somewhere? AND is this compatible with Vista?

Unfortunately Canon has decided not to create a driver for the F50 that is compatible with Vista they feel it would be too expensive to create a driver for an old model like the F series.

Sorry

You may have to install updated drivers from Canon:
www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportIndexAct
The last time I did this they were for Windows XP SP2. Also, XP is now on SP3 and there have been many security patches lately.
Sometimes "MP Service" does not start, so you have to manually start it by going to ControlPanel, then AdministrativeTools, then Services, then MP Service. However, you seem to have done that.
