Removing songs from Ipod Nano using Winamp

I have a 4GB Ipod Nano 3rd Gen. and I use Winamp player 5.53 to load songs and remove them. I cnnot use Itunes because my PC is too old to run the latest version. When I highlight a song or a playlist I want to remove and then click remove from Ipod, the song is removed --meaning the sound, but the track information such as name and album art is still there. No matter how many ways I try to remove these items (by artist, album, playlist, etc.) it never works. The tracks don't take up any bytes but when I shuffle songs, when it comes to where one of these remved tracks used to be, the Ipod stops playing because it interprets a song still being there and trys to still play it. Any help would be greatly aprreciated.

I am a relative newbie when it comes to a lot of technical terms concerning our digital world, so I dont know exactly what the difference between audio files and MP3 formatted files are, but what I can tell you is that the songs that I deleted that left there info. behind came from CD's that i had transferred to the Winamp player. But the songs that were completely and successfully removed were from CD's also. The songs are completely gone from my PC. the only evidence of there existence appears when I plug my Ipod into my PC and bring up the songs that are contained on the Ipod. If the Ipod is not connected, the Winamp player, nor my music files show any sign that the deleted songs were ever on the PC. The dragging thing to another playlist didn't work either, but thanks again for your time and patience. I'm still working on the problem myself. It may be that I have to plug the Ipod into a Pc with an ITunes player and correct the problem with the software that was built specifically for the IPod.

Have these songs you are trying to remove previously played OK on your ipod? it sounds like they are audio files and not MP3 formatted.
Try syncronising your ipod to your winamp player library after deleting the ones you want removed.

Also try clicking and dragging the songs you want removed onto another song list.

Seems the playlist detais arent geting removed, only the songs.
So basicly you need to remove the deleted songs from the playlists ? you could probably do it on the ipod screen manually.

How do i delete songs from my ipod nano

To remove songs from a playlist on the iPod nano, you typically have to have it docked and connected to your computer.

To remove a song, video, or other item from iPod nano:
  1. In iTunes, select iPod nano in the source list.
  2. Select a song or other item on iPod nano and press the Delete or Backspace key on your keyboard.

Can't download songs from my pc to my 3rd gen nano ipod

I had the same problem with my ipod touch. I soon realized itunes is too protected with their software. So i googled around and i found an Itunes alternative called Media Monkey. I absolutely love it. You could also use Winamp too which i als found good.
