Question about Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

My company recently leased a MP C3000 multi-function machine. The tech who delivered and set them up, did not leave any software or documentation. I would like to set up scan to folder(network folder). I thought I set it up correctly. Through address book. But I can not browse the network and select a folder...what am I missing? thanks Robert

He did not setup anything. I setup the network settings. I can send print jobs to the printer fine. I tested the connection via the connection test in admin program and it comes back good.

When I try to browse (from the printer console) to the network, I can not.

    thanks

You need to set up your destination folder on the c drive of your pc & set it as a shared folder.
You then need to browse to it from the MFP screen & add it as a destination - remember you will need the correct log in name (same as you use to log in to your p.c) & password (again the same as when you log in).
Good luck - call me if you like. Luke: 0121 521 3444

Ricoh mp c3000 has magenta lines when copying

The most common problem here believe it or not is dust. Clean the complete optics section including the lamp, mirrors and lens with a damp cloth. Dry afterwards and see if the problem still persists. There is also a small section between the lens and the SBU PCB that you can clean with a dry cloth. Hope this helps.

Scanner image is askew

Base on your explainination it seems like, this is because of your setting in MP Navigator, the image may not be scanned properly. In such a case, it is necessary to match the settings in MP Navigator to the document. please do the following. 1) Match the type of the document on the platen glass to the document type set in MP Navigator. For example, when scanning a color photo, select Color Photo in Document Type of MP Navigator. 2) Match the size of the document on the platen glass to the document size in MP Navigator. For example, when the document size is A4, select A4 in Document Size of MP Navigator. (Memo) Auto Detect is set in Document Size as the default.

Lease a Copier Vs. Purchase A Copiers - Pros and Cons

Today I am addressing the pros and cons of purchasing a copier vs. leasing a copier for your workplace. I was recently asked this question for the 5,000,000th time and I decided to answer the question publicly. If you feel like you have unique circumstances feel free to contact me directly to ask a question.
There are advantages and disadvantages to either acquisition process. There are several variables that will help steer you in the right direction to see whether purchasing or leasing a printer is right for your office. Whichever option you decide on, you can rest assured that Skelton Business Equipment will take excellent care of your machine with a recommended maintenance and toner contract.
Leasing:
  • Pros
    • No acquisition cost
    • Cheap monthly cost
    • Rotated new equipment
  • Cons
    • No ownership
    • Extended obligation
Purchasing:
  • Pros
    • Instant ownership
    • No extended obligation
  • Cons
    • High initial cost
    • Potential for old non-functioning equipment
    • technology quickly becomes obsolete

Ask yourself these three questions:

1.) How long has our company been in business?
The credit approval process can be very sensitive to new businesses. Without 3 or more years in business the lease application will probably require a personal guaranty from the owner of the company. With that being said, it may make more sense to purchase a refurbished printer at a low cost, then lease a more robust, new printer down the road once the company has more established credit and higher printing volume.
2.) How much do we print?
Printers these days are designed to last! If you don't have a high volume of printing you'll probably get more bang for your buck purchasing an MFP outright. Most lease terms are 3 or 4 years, and if you aren't simply pounding your printer all day every day, then you should get a lot more than 3 or 4 years out of it. On the other hand, if you hammer your office equipment, it makes more sense to lease a machine so you'll get a new one at the end of the lease term and not have to worry about what to do with a broken down machine 8 years down the road. A headache is the last thing you need with office equipment, you have a lot of other things to worry about. And so do I.
3.) How much are we willing to spend out of pocket for a printer?
Large MFPs can are expensive. Leasing them is a great option for an office without a large budget. Most workplaces would function seamlessly with an MFP for around $200 a month, which would cost you nearly $7,000 cash. You could lease a machine that's out of your budget that will handle a larger workload than a system that was purchased outright.

With these questions answered you'll be on the right path to either purchasing or leasing a copier. If you're looking for a copier in Houston I give rock-bottom pricing, especially if the lead comes from this blog.

How do you scan?

Open the Applications folder on the hard disk on which MP Navigator is installed, then open the Canon Utilities folder and double-click the navicon.gif MP Navigator 3.0 icon. MP Navigator opens.
2. Point to Scan/Import and click 'Photos/Documents (Platen)'.
macnavscanfirst.gif
3. Place the document face-down on the platen glass, and select 'Document Type'.
How to place the document and Document Type depends on the document to be scanned.
navscandocwindow.gif
How to place the document
Allow 3/8 inches (1 cm) or more space between the edges of the platen glass and the document.
Align a corner of the document with the corner at the arrow of the platen.
macnavscanselectdoctype.gif
  • When you select Color Photo or Black and White Photo, the position or size of the image may not be scanned correctly if you do not leave 3/8 inches (1 cm) or more space between the edges of the platen glass and the document.
  • When you select Color Photo or Black and White Photo, the position or size of the image may not be scanned correctly depending on the document. In such a case, select Document Size such as A4 or Letter according to the document to be scanned.
  • When you select Magazine(Color), the Descreen function will be enabled and scanning takes longer than usual. To reset the Descreen function, disable Descreen in the Scan Settings dialog box.

4. Click 'Specify'... and set the preferences as required.
The Scan Settings Dialog Box opens. Specify the Document Size and Scanning Resolution.
macnavscanscanset.gif
  • When Document Size is Auto Detect or Auto Detect(Multiple Documents), the position or size of the image may not be scanned correctly depending on the document. In such a case, select Document Size, such as A4 or Letter according to the document to be scanned.
5. Click 'Scan'.
Scanning will begin.
When the document has been scanned, the scanned image is displayed in the Thumbnail List area.

How do you get the Canon Pixma mp500 to scan?

Hi there,

Scanning images,
About Scanning images
You can scan images from the machine to a computer without printing them and save them in popular formats. Scanned data saved on your computer can be processed using image processing software. Furthermore, you can use the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software to convert scanned paper documents to text data.

* Before scanning
Before scanning images, confirm the following :
- Are the necessary software (MP Drivers and MP Navigator) installed ?
If the software is not installed, install it.
- Does the document to be scanned meet the requirements for an original to be set on the Platen Glass ?
- Is the machine connected to a computer correclty.
Confirm that the connection between the machine and the computer is physically secure.

Scanning Methods.

A) Scanning Using the MP Navigator
MP Navigator enables you to scan in documents loaded on the Platen Glass and view images saved on your computer or on a memory card. Scanned documents can be previewed and easily printed and edited according to your needs.
You can use the supplied application softwares to edit or print the document you have scanned.

Windows : Double-click the [MP Navigator 2.0] icon on your desktop to launch MP Navigator.
Mac : Select [Applications] from the [Go] menu, then double-click the [MP Navigator 2.0] icon to launch MP Navigator.

You can launch the following application software from the MP Navigator.
* Easy-PhotoPrint (Photo Printing)
* ArcSoft PhotoStudio (Photo image editing)
* ScanSoft OmniPage SE ( Converting scanned document to text)
- This application software may not be supplied with teis machine in some country.

Note : If you did a [Custom Install] and only installed the MP Driver and MP Navigator, these application software were not installed and thus cannot be launched. To launch any of the above application softwares from MP Navigator, do a [Custom Install] once again to install them.
For detailed operations of the MP Navigator, refer to the Scan Guide.

B) Scanning Using the Operation Panel of the Machine
You can scan documents to your computer by using the Operation Panel.
Important : Do not insert or remove USB cables when scanning images with the machine connected to a computer, or when the computer is at sleep or standby mode.
*If you are using Windows XP
The program selection screen is displyed the first time you press [Color] or [Black] on the machine.. Specify the [MP Navigator 2.0] as the application software to use, check [Always use this program for this action], then click [OK]. From the next time, MP Navigator is automatically started.

*When using Mac OS X
For the machine to start scanning when [Color] or [Black] is pressed, you need to set MP Navigator as the starting application software in Image Capture under [Applications] of Mac OS X.

1) Press [ON/OFF] to turn on the machine.
2) Load the documents on the Platen Glass.
3) Select the scan option.
a) Press [Scan].
The scan operation selection screen is displayed.
b) Use Up or Down arrows to select the scan operation, then press [OK].
Scan standby screen is displayed.
Save to PC : The document is scanned and saved.
Save as PDF file : The document is scanned and stored as a PDF file.
Attach to E-Mail : The document is scanned, and the image is attached to an e-mai using the e-mail application software.
OPen with application : The document is scanned and displayed on the registered application software.

4) Press [Color] or [Black].
The document is scanned. The settings configured from MP Navigator apply when scanning.
Important : If with some types of original the position and size of the image is not scanned in correctly, please refer to the "Selecting the Behaviour of the Operation Panel with Mp Navigator " in the Scan Guide (on-screen manual). and change the MP Navigator [Document Type] and [Document Size]] to match those of the original being scanned.
Note : The operation to be performed after scanning the document depends on the scan operation setting you have selected in step 3. For details on how to modify the operation settings, refer tp the Scan Guide on-screen menual.

C) Scanning from an Application Software
You can scan an image from TWAIN-or- WIA (Windows XP only) complaint application software and handle the scanned image in the application software. For detailed operations, refer to the Scan Guide (on-screen manual).

I Expect this will be very expensive as it is not designed to be replaced as an entire assembly, but rather repaired as needed.

Sounds like the document that is being sent to the printer, or the one if pending prints are present, has a page size set to other than what the printer has its set to for the tray feed (or tray feed is set wrong), so it is defaulting to the Manual Feed for insertion of correct medium CTM (not sure if int. but thats maybe a country thing we use A4, ENV and B5 mainly
