Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

1 Answer

Have a phillips DVDR model#3455H.Inserted dvdrw disc recorded with videos recorded on it in my computer. Disc works fine in my pioneer dvdr but when I put it in the phillips it will not load and it will not eject. Also it will not come out of DVD mode. I have tried unplugging it for as long as over night also I have tried holding eject button down as I reapply power. Still no help. I'm thinking I may have to pull the cover and try to get the disc out manually and hope without the disc in the tray the machine will reset itself. Any suggestions?

Also have a Philips 3455H model, put in a DVD that has worked previously, got stuck, now when I plug in and power on, it just turns on the power then turns off repeatedly. Wondering if there is a way to manually release. Thanks.

The electronic procedure:
Switch off the unit at the wall plug. On the front panel, hold in the <RECORD> and <EJECT> buttons at the same time, and keeping them held, switch on the power at the wall again. Keep holding the buttons until the disc tray opens.

I have a Magnavox MRV700VR. I can record on a DVDR, but when I try to record on a DVDRW it tells me "disc error". Why?

It will be either that you have not formatted the disc or that you are using the wrong type of disc. You will need a DVD+RW on a + machine or DVD-RW on a - machine. Most recorders will playback the other type but not record on it.

My recorder DVDR 3330H has the "finalize" in the menu disk but I cannot click on it .

Probably you don't have a DVD+/-R disc inserted but a DVD+/-RW. A rewritable disc can't be finalised and doesn't have to be.

Have a DVDR 3460 / 97 model of Philips . Have yet to commission same . Am unable to record from audio cassettes to the DVDR disc although the local Philips service agency assured me that same was possible...

There are a number of different RW DVDs out there and your problem could be one of the following:-

That you are not following the instructions

That the discs you arer using are not the correct ones(usually they have a leter or a number on the disc that marks the diference between diferent discs from different manufacturers) I would suggest buying the Phillips discs then that cancels that problem.

That the leads you are using are incorrect or faulty.
OR lastly

A fault on the machine.

The last option is that you physically go to either where you bought it or the philipps centre and ask them to show you how to do it. You paid for it so you deserve the service.

Hi I haev a problem with A Philips DVDR3380/05

Use Phillips own media this unit was designed with DVD+R/RW in mind, it will work with DVD-R/RW discs but Philips invented the + format.

If you are using the DVDR 3380 is recorded video to then upload to your PC the best program is TMPGEnc v4.0 Xpress it has its own function to scan source media from a DVDR, if you use +R or + RW media you don't even have to finalise it. This is only required if you want to play a DVD-R on another standalone

I have never had any problems with SONY and PHILLIPS media, generally speaking cheap unbranded media will have a higher failure rate , but you do get what you pay for when optical media is concerned.

Hope this helps, join www.windowstipsclub.co.uk for more tips and tricks concerning DVD's

I have a dvdr3380 lately when i put in disc it says disc unrecord

Test the created DVD with TMPGEnc v4.0 Xpress here is the free trial link It has a read source function that will fail if the DVDR has not been authored correctly.

If this works and scans in the full DVDR then I suggested that you buy a branded DVD+R like Philips who created the format, if this still fails I think you DVDR 3380 will need a service.

LOL
