First check the connection at the auger motor, sometimes they come loose, otherwise it's one of two things, the auger motor itself, (check for 110 volts while calling for ice) or the microswitch in the front door panel. usually the auger motor.

I have a side by side Whirlpool refrigerator that will not dispense ice. Ice maker working fine, just will not dispense. We did check the micro switch and it is working. No sound coming from ice maker...

when u trip sw to dispense motor must run - so does proper voltage appear at motor connector tabs? If not, follow it back to the voltage source. If so, does motor turn when not connected to mechanism? If not, the motor is defective. If so, is the mechanism from the motor to the auger free to turn. IE can u turn the auger from the motor connection?

Ice maker makes ice but will not dispense

If you would like to know the answer I will need you to respond. I can always provide Whirlpools Factory Technical Assistance 5 days a week. First I would like you to pull out your ice bin, press door light switch in while someone will press the ice dispense button. See if the dispenser motor is running or trying to move. Make sure there is no frozen solid ice in the ice bin once you remove as that also can stop the auger. Here is a Parts Manual=> Whirlpool GS6NBEXR Then scroll down to page 7 and 8. That is where you will find the dispenser components for the inside of freezer. The part numbers are factory and recognized by all parts suppliers. You will also find the Dispenser Front Parts beginning on page 13. Your problem may also be a bad door switch=> 1115373 Door Switch Assembly Another possibility is the dispenser control behind the facing that marks the dispense water and ice buttons found on page 13 at position 16. Click Here=> 2304163 Dispenser Control The electrical connection at bottom or top of freezer door to dispenser may also have a bad connection.
You will need Adobe Reader to open these files=> sea_breeze_13.gif
If you would like the Tech Sheet and wiring diagram you will need to contact me here=> GS6NBEXRA00_Wiring_Diagram Sorry about that but Whirlpool has become strict on what I can post on-line

Hooked up water, which dispenses invariably, but ice won't dispen

Remove the ice bin , and behind it , on the rear wall ,use a screwdriver for leverage , between the dispensor " arms " , to see if the arms turn the motor fairly freely and not jammed . If it seems jammed , use a hair dryer aimed at the center of the arms to heat up the motor shaft to melt any ice possibly freezing it . No disassembly required .
If the arms turn fairly freely ( not jammed ) , then the main control board behind the refrig , is the problem .

Have a SS #GSS22WGPEWWW Ice not coming out

Try taking ice pan with auger out hold door open and press light switch for the door in while someone presses dispense ice. I want to see if the motor is turning behind the auger ice tray. The door switch has an interlock and when door is closed the dispenser controls should be functional. When open this disables water and ice dispenser. waiting on your response, Sea Breeze

Ice maker makes ice but can't dispense ice

Please try this. Remove your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly which is where the Auger (corkscrew) is located. You should be able to see the Auger Motor Drive Fork which is located permanently inside the freezer compartment... opposite the end of the Removable Ice Bucket Assembly that you just took out. Close the freezer door and attempt to dispense ice... if you can hear the Auger Motor running as you attempt to dispense ice... then the Auger Motor is OK. Dump out all the ice that is in your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly and wash it out in your kitchen sink with warm water. Reach into your freezer and put your hand on the Auger Motor Drive Fork ... you should be able to rotate it CW or CCW...it is a little hard to turn but it will turn. Position the Auger Motor Fork to a 12:00 and 6:00 o'clock position. Now take your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly and position its Receiver Auger Fork to a 9:00 and 3:00 o'clock ....Re install the Removable Ice Bucket Assembly into the Auger Drive Fork. Close the freezer door and again attempt operate the ice dispenser... you should hear the Auger Motor again run as you press the ice dispenser. Note....at this same time the Ice Chute Door in the Freezer Door should spring open so that ice can fall out. Of course you have no ice in the Auger at this time...but it all this works then future production of ice will fall out. Note...Usually the Auger Motor never fails. but the whole thing can get jammed with ice and not dispense. Also, the the solenoid that operates the Ice Chute Door fails quite frequently. Last but not least... if nothing is happening... it is a control board type problem. Hopes this helps! Handy Henry

Our icemaker cannot make ice so we were using small ice in the ice dispenser. Now the ice dispenser does not work. When we first started having trouble with the ice maker we immediately changed the...

Both of those are controlled by a voltage signal sent to the back and rear near floor of the back of your refrigerator. The part is a water control valve. When you press the dispense water button the valve if not defective will open and allow water to travel through the bottom fresh food section water reservoir to the cup. When the ice maker dumps fresh cubes to the tray to store foe dispensing ice it also opens the valve for its side fore just enough time to refill the ice maker. Then the ice maker waits until it senses frozen ice and begins the cycle by heating elements below it to loosen the cubes to begin the cycle again. So get someone to unplug the side on pack and put the probes of a multimeter into each female side and press dispense, you should see 120 volts there. If not the dual water control valve needs replaced. Part Number 4389177

Kenmore side by side icemaker

Your product is an IDI (In Door Ice the bucket is in the door) or a Non-IDI? By the way, you mention the Ice maker. The thing is that if the ice maker is not runnning then you don't have ice to dispense and obviously the fact that the motor is working or not is irrelevant. So that's why I suppose that the problem is not the ice maker but the trajectory of the cubes from the bucket to outside of the door.

In the Non-IDI sometimes it happens that the safes in the bucket jump the locks were the bucket resides so the auger motor (the one that move the shaft so you get the Ice) is still running but you can't get ice because the bucket is not in the right position. Just try to relocate the bucket.

You can see if the motor is moving the shaft pressing the light switch that is at the top of the freezer. Then dispense, when you press the switch the main board thinks that the door is closed so you can dispense and see if the motor is moving the shaft.

Other failure mode is the flapper door, it depends if the dispenser works with full electronics or if it's an electromechanical dispenser. Full electronics dispenser use a stepper motor to move the flapper door so the failure is that when you press the pad and the flapper door is closing, if you press it again then it get stucked, the motor dispense but the flapper door is closed. With electromechanical dispenser, maybe is the dashpot mechanism.

If any of these solutions couldn't fix your problem please tell me. I think that I can solve this particular problem.

Ice dispenser auger does not work.

Hi, On GE refrigerators the motor is not quiet. Open your freezer, remove the ice bin, press the door switch, make sure it turns off the light, and then press the ice dispenser lever. The solenoid will click, which also opens the ice door and the auger motor will turn on and you can definitely hear it. If the motor runs then inspect the auger connection on the rear of the ice bin, its plastic and they break. On some models, like my GE Adora there is a switch just for the ice maker behind the ice bin. If you need more help let me know as with all long distance troubleshooting we try with the information we have. Thanks and Good Luck!

Icemaker works fine, only dispenses water

make sure that the ice shoot is not clogged up with ice or the in the ice basket where the ice goes through. Sometimes the ice can be stuck together and jam and nothing will come out.
