It sound like you may be using component wires. The component wires have three wires for the video. If you have just one of those wires loose or unplugged you will get all screwy colors on your screen and the sound will still be just fine because the sound wires are still plugged in right.

Sounds like the other DVD player went bonkers. Try unplugging power on the DVD player you were playing the game on for 5 minutes, then plug it back in.

All of a sudden I am getting only 1/3 picture (left side) when I play a DVD. I have tried several DVDs with the same result.

does this happen if you switch to a different input on tv?

if so you have a bad setting on DVD player or you are using wrong output or output setting

if it is only that input and it works fine on a different input of the tv then you might have a bad input on your tv or you might have a wrong setting for that input

let me know if you need more help and give me more specifc info and i will be glad to help more

good luck

After the dvd plays for like 10-15 minutes(when dvd player warms up?) all the colors on the screen turn to black, yellow and purple for the rest of the movie. What's wrong?

I gotta know more clearly about your question, i am going to explain in 'Guide Solutions'
Guide 1: Is it the color just cover the main grid? (Color cover like blocking the others, such as watching 70s TV shows, the colors blocked in black and white.)
Source 1: Audio input problems, your dvd audio input linked with three different 'rops', they are appeared to be push by pressure.
Solution 1: Determine more spaces to them!
Guide 2: Is it the color cover the photon grid? (Color cover at all pictures, each of them doesn't stand the other colors instead of replaced by unique color)
Source 2: Undefined
Solution 2: The TV setting menu seems to b set by specific colors, change it on your own using remote. OR this is a specific part that the DVD need to show the color in unique color (only one)
(No problems, keep watching)!

Can only get black and white images when playing DVD's

Check your settings - video format. It should be NTSC for USA standard. If it is set to European (PAL) it will be in black & white. Hope this helps.

Yamaha DVX-S120 On Screen Menu - Phillips brand

The same happened to me! DVD's play fine but on screen menu just changed and Video Output option is gone! Also de Philips logo on screen which I suspect is placed there by my TV (which is a Philips one) and as it does no longer receive the background screen from the DVX it just puts its own. Is your TV Philips like mine?

Problem with original dvd

Before performing any operations, make sure of the following: ? Check the connection with the TV. ? Turn on the TV and select the correct input on the TV to view the pictures or on-screen indications on the TV screen. ? For DVD playback, you can change the Setup menu setting to your preference menu... Alos, make sure thay the system and disc region code numbers are incompatible: The following discs cannot be played back: ? DVD-Audio, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-ROM, CD-I, (CD-I Ready), Photo CD, etc. Playing back these discs will generate noise and damage the speakers. * Note on Region Code DVD players and DVD Video discs have their own Region Code numbers. This system can play back DVD discs recorded with the color system of NTSC and PAL whose Region Code numbers include ?3.?
