When is try to set oven to a temp, it will only register 150 degrees. I don't know if this is because kids may have accidentally set something or what. no matter what setting I use, I cannot get oven to accept setting over 260 degrees without convection, 230 with convection.

Its possible that the unit is set for Celsius degrees rather then Fahrenheit. althoug i didnt get full model number heres a link to a booklet explasining how to switch if needed, if this isnt for your model either check your owners guide or supply me with the entire model and ill lokk up for you. page 11 is where the F/C is explained

Hello. In most ovens with an electronic control, the temperature is regulated by 2 things--the sensor and the oven control board. The sensor is simply an electrically resistive device that changes resistance as the temperature increases or decreases. It is connected to the main control board by 2 wires(just a "pigtail") and the main board is supposed to be calibrated to adjust properly. Most control boards have a built-in program by which you can adjust the calibration +/- 35 degrees. If your oven is outside that range, and you're sure that the sensor is good, the connections are good, etc., then the oven control board temp control circuit has gone bad. Keep in mind, when you turn on an electronically controlled oven, the first time it heats up is USUALLY hotter by about 50 degrees--this allows the floor, walls, and ceiling to reach proper temperature. This is called the initial spike. In gas ovens, the user must wait approximately 8-10 minutesAFTER the oven beeps to cook anything. In an exposed-element electric oven, the user waits approximately 10-15 minutes after the beep. In the hidden bake element models, waiting 20-25 minutes after the beep is normal!
Also, keep in mind, ovens can have 60 degree temp swings higher and lower(as long as the midpoint is close to the chosen temp) I hope I've helped you!
I would make sure that the conversion kit was the correct kit for your stove. Also, if it is not heating properly I would call the gas company and tell them the conversion did not work and they need to double check their work (at no charge). If everything is in order proceed to the next step below.
You can try removing the Oven Temp control. There is an adjustment on the knob which will vary the temp + or - 75 degrees F or so.
Procedure: Preheat your oven for 350 degrees F. Give it a good 1/2 hour to 45 minutes and then pull the knob off (usually held on with a set screw) You will need a thermometer that will go up to 500 degrees (I use an electronic one but you can use any kind as long as it is within the ovens temp range. If the oven is underheating simply turn the oven control stem to a higher setting, say a 50 degree incrament. Wait another 1/2 hour and measure temp inside oven. Keep in mind when you open the oven door it affects recovery time, etc so 30 minutes between a measurement and adjustment should suffice. Once you have adjusted the temp control to your target temp of 350 degrees look on the back of the knob and see if there is a stop adjustment. There is a chance the temp control knob could be setup differently but the same philiosphy/procedure will be similar.- the adjustment could be on the stem itself instead of the knob.
Also keep in mind that the oven temp will fluctuate from high to low as it tries to adjust to the temp it is set at. That is why it is very important to give the oven time to cycle low to high when you incrament the temp control. Hope this helps and good luck! Gary
I had the same problem with my magic cheff oven. I had to set the temp at 400 - 500 degrees to get to get an actual oven temp of about 250 degrees. The oven temp sensor checked ok with an ohm meter. Should be around 1100 ohms at room temp. I work in the electronics industry and know capacitors go out of range and dry out with heat and over time so I replaced the 3 or 4 electrolitic capacitors on the timer board. Cost me about $6.00 at Radio Shack and now my oven temp is right on the money. I realize not everyone may want to do this but it worked for me. Better than the $200.00 for a new oven timer control board. I have also found a company's website that fixes these boards for about $89.00 ApplianceTimers.com
Any other posts have been blocked, so I don't know what you have been told or tried. Has the oven temp been OK until just recently? The range has not been moved or converted Nat gas to LP etc. recently? If yes to Q1 and no to Q2, I'd replace the oven sensor (
WB21X5301) and then reset control to +- 00. Sensor is the pencil shaped thing sticking out the back of the oven. Note: Your temp test method is not accurate enough to calibrate oven exactly. I take average temp after a minimum 3 on / off cycles using a digital calibrating oven thermometer to get them within 10 degrees of set temp.
Use an oven thermometer Try to figure out if by setting it to 390 it will maintain 350 accurately. (A 25 degree change while it cycles is normal. It will probably overshoot before going off and undershoot a little before cycling on.) If so the thermostat has just drifted. Pull off the control know and look usually there is an adjustment on the shaft to change the temp showing on the knob. set it up 50 degrees. If the knob can't be changed just know that you have to adjust yourself. If it won't maintain a steady temp the thermostat is bad and will need to be replaced. The thermostat will be over $100 it may not be worth it. If this is a computer controled unit (pushbutton temp selection) the sensor needs to be replaced. This is a lot cheaper than a thermostat.
The problem is: the temp seems to be 'stuck' at 260 and will not allow any higher settings.
Calling KitchenAid proved to be unuseful. The manual did not have this item in the troubleshooting pages. Resetting the power does not help.
The SOLUTION: There is really no problem besides that the temp display setting has been somehow set to be celsius (metric system) rather than farhenheit (english system). Changing this setting somehow can be easily touched off without knowing, thus the "I didn't do anything and yesterday it was working fine..." comment from family members.
The FIX: Reset the temp display back to farhenheit (F). This is done by opening the oven door, then hold down the 'Broil' button until you hear a beep from the control panel. The same method may be used to change from Farhenheit back to Celsius.
Prevention: I speculate the inavertent change of the temp setting is done while cleaning the flat control panel. So the best thing to do is to always 'LOCK' the control panel when cleaning the controls. This is done by holding down the keypad "3/lock" for a few seconds until the display shows LOCK.
(The solution was already posted when I arrived at this page. I just organized it a bit by adding some details and a preventative comment. Many thanks to those who posted earlier, solving my issue as well. I hope my writing presents a clearer and quicker read to the next person)
