I have lost my frigidaire self cleaning oven manual. My oven is smoking and dirty on bottom. I do not know how to self clean my oven, and have never a self clean before. My oven is an electric, speed bake, smooth top. I did not see any numbers or model #. Help! Thank you, teri

What model Frigidaire oven do you have? Most Frigidaire manuals are available from the manufacturer's site: or . Note: these manuals are in the PDF format; you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read them.

For example the User's manual for the FGGF3054MW range (with convection oven) is available at .

I hope this helps.

My oven is smoking excessively during self clean. I have only used it to bake twice and was just trying to clean off two small blobs of cheese from a frozen pizza. This was my first time to use the self...

Could be because it's new. You can buy an oven liner for the bottom to catch the spills. Also there is a product out that is safe for spot cleaning a self cleaning oven.

How to use self cleaning

It would be wise to not use the self clean mode. Many horror storys of controls costing hundreds of dollars to replace come to mind. The delicate electronics cannot stand the 900 degree 3 hour endurance of this. Why not get some green flavored easy off oven cleaner instead and save a lot of money. They have a new and improved easy off citrus based product that is deemed green and mean.

Delf-cleaning oven (Frigidaire) caught fire while cleaning. Any recalls on this problem? Stove was purchased about one and a half years ago.

Wecome to fixya,
Huuum at your service.

You said, your self-cleaning oven (Frigidaire) caught fire while cleaning.
Any recalls on this problem? Stove was purchased about one and a half years ago.

Please give me the model number so I may check for recalls!

If you attempted to clean the oven with drippings or heavy food on the bottom of the oven from spills,
then you can have a small fire in the oven .
But it will burn out.
The user guides all tell the reader that if you drip or spill food in the oven to first, "wipe out loose soil to reduce smoke and avoid damage!"

Atlas La Stella double oven

Hello Roland,
happy to help you out!
You must clean by way of wiping excess spills and materials dripped or spilled before self clean is operated. Or there will be smoke even during the self clean process!
Also do not wait till there is build up galore to self clean your oven!
If you spill or splatted and drip in the oven that day,
start the self clean after you do the dinner dishes!
More info can be found int he owners manual!

I have never used a self cleaning oven setting before. How do I start it? Afterwards what do I do? Do I leave the racks in? What is the routine? Thanks for your information! Barb

in general, if indeed it is a self cleanig oven, hte procedure is as follows.first remove the oven racks, then wipe up any loose dirt/grease from bottom of oven. next simply press the clean button( perhaps then pushing temp up button 3:00 will appear in display.) then press start, the door should lock and the clean cycle will begin.. Its important to realize that if this is the first time its run and if its real dirty the unit will smoke and smell real funny as cycle progresses, this is normal for the the clean cycle is actually incinerating the dirt/grease from unit. no need to panic and stop it but better to open a window and let complete the cycle, the door will automatically unlock whine the unit has cooled to a ssafe temperature, then open the door and wipe out the white ash from the oven floor

If it is a frididaire here is the link to the manuals.

You can save time by finding your model number inside the bottom drawer of the oven (right hand side) and enter it into the search field.
